"Audible- In Mummy Trouble is Muy Great!"
Judy Schachner's voice and accents are too fun! My 4 year old and I love this entire series. A bath time favorite!
"Lots of fun"
The whole famly loves the skippjon jones books. They are hilarious and the narration is great!
"Entertaining"
OK. I bought this for my 5 year old granddaughter! Well, after we have listened to it together several times, I find myself listening to it by myself! Don't think I am simplistic either. I have 2 Masters degrees! Skippy John Jones books, all of them, are wonderful and I can listen to them anytime! The narrator is excellent too. Best of all, it is the perfect length...not too short and not too long! Highly recommend all the Skippy John Jones books! This one is my favorite though!!!
"LOVED THIS BOOK"
In the end it was his sisters wrapping him up in toilet paper.
My daughters love when I read to them. I enjoyed Skippyjon Jones books we own 4. I also downloaded on I Books and read along with the audio.
When Skippyjon sings the girls like to clap
Skippito Friskito of course. I purchased the stuffed animal and hand puppet.
I love Mama JuneBug Jones always reassuring her Skippyjon
"Disappointing"
Shachner's stories are wonderful. She is a great writer, but not necessarily a skilled narrator...at least not for children. She reads WAY too quickly. I can't even understand her or the chorus of Los Chimichangos most of the time. A children's narrator should know more about how to read to children. Speaking this quickly to children, who are just now learning the language, can lead to speech disfluencies, including stuttering.
I love Skippyjon's imagination. I think he works as a wonderful tool to get kids to use their imaginations.
Worth reading, not hearing.
These stories definitely need to be read aloud. The rhyme scheme and alliteration is wonderful, but do it yourself.
"My 5 yr old can't get enough of Judy Schachner!!!!"
We listen to her books as a family and laugh out loud! Judy is a great entertainer!
"Listen with the book"
We listen to books in the car so this is not a great choice to listen without the book. The story really needs the pictures if your child is to follow it, so it doesn't work for us.
"skippyjon jones in mummy trouble"
I have gotten all three books with cds for my granddaughters also downloaded them onto my ipod we all love listening to all of them. They don't have trouble going to sleep at night they just put on their cd and listen to what skippito is up to. When are there going to be more?
"This audio addition needs updating"
The story itself is wonderful and active but the narration style lacks imagination, and is recording sounds VERY dated thereby taking away from the fun of Skippy. I would not recommend this for young listeners.
"Not recommended"
I don't care for the Skippyjon series at all. The gender and racial sereotyping is atrocious, and the disrespectful way mother and son interact is more than cringe-worthy. I also don't understand who the stories are intended for. This book - Skippyjon Jones in Mummy Trouble - makes all sorts of references that will only make sense to late elementary or middle school readers. Yet the books appear to be preschool picture books. Neither of the books offered by Audible (Mummy Trouble and In the Doghouse) have plots that make sense to my 4-year-old. Lost in Spice is a little bit better in that regard. (Be aware that any of the books are almost impossible to follow if you haven't previously seen the illustrations.) Given the stereotyping, the fake Spanish accents, and the disrespectful language and behavior, I find listening to any of the Skippyjon books quite grating. I do not recommend this series.
