Publisher's Summary

The Maelstrom, a metaphysical whirlpool of apocalyptic proportions, is pulling all of reality into its maw, devouring the totality of time and space while bringing together people and places from throughout the universe. The Q Continuum pronounces that the end of everything has come, but Q refuses to meekly accept the complete termination of all he has known. Defying the judgment of the Continuum, he sets out to derail doomsday at whatever the cost. Q is joined in his quest by his young son, little q, as well as by two displaced Starfleet officers. Snatched from the U.S.S. Enterprise by the inexorable pull of the Maelstrom, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lieutenant Commander Data have no choice but to accompany Q on a hazardous journey into the very heart of the vortex, where they will encounter wonders and dangers enough to render Q himself speechless. Almost.

    "Download this file"

If you want to listen to one of the most touching, personal and at sometimes funny Star Trek novel ever written then download this file right now. John DeLancie and Peter David have out done themselfes this time. DeLancie provides a great rendition of his novel in the humoric tone that only Q can provide, and in case your wondering the opening and closing monologues of this book were read by Delancies Wife, Marnie Mosiman.

    "Fun and laughs"

What can be said about John DeLancie? He is fantastic. He brings all of his charisma and charm to this book that he did to his role on TNG. I don't think any former cast member could do a better job than John. I actually laughed out loud last night while walking my dog. People must have thought I was wierd.
I only wish the story could have been longer, or at least unabridged. Every part of a book is important, not just the action parts. Thank you John DeLancie for writing this book and thank you for narrating it!

    "Hurray for Q!"

I really apprecaite the Star Trek stories featuring Q, even more so in the novels than in the television program. They seem to focus on a kind of science fiction I like - philosophical, questioning reality and the nature of existence. Also, the Q character has really developed from a mischievous enigma, to a full and multi-dimensional character. This is a really well done story, with great narration. Highly recommended.

    "Great Q Title, Excellent Work"

I found this title somewhat more enjoyable than the other available titles featuring the character Q. John is not only a great actor, but a great voice actor as well. The story is quite enjoyable. Q manages to go off on his many tangents throughout the story, moving from thought to thought, much like his character did in the TNG series. The story is full of important social commentary, which I found very appropriate for this day and age. It isn't amazing, and the pivotal points and climax are not extraordinary, but at the end it left me saying "Hmmmm...". An enjoyable story, and well worth the 3 hour investment.

    "Abridged :( :( :("
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I despise abridged works. Did not listen threw it away. Wish I could get my money back. There should be a big warning that pops up telling you a work is abridged. I can't believe I paid good money for a hack job :(

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

NOne. Abridged books are a waste of money. There should be a law against selling them or at least large warnings.

    Any additional comments?

*sigh* Audible ripped me off twice today with abridged books. I need to go find a better book seller

    "Let Down"

I am a Star Trek fan and I love the character Q. But this story was disappointing from the start making Picard and Data seem like unecessary tag-a-long characters and Q appear like any other normal dad, which is totally off. Q narrates (in real life also) which attracted me to the story at first until I began to find that his character spends most of the time either going off on silly tangents that have no relevance to the story or engaging in atheistic/agnostic drivel. By the end of the story the authors have insinuated that God is a naked female who lives on a beach and has suicidal tendencies?!? This is a poorly written story and should be struck from the Star Trek record. If you want a good "Q" story, none is better written or narrated than Q-Squared, in my opinion.

    "Surprisingly Crappy"

First of all, this book was all of three hours. Before it even started, it was over. Second, the story was pretty lame. Q is one of my absolute favorite characters and I very much enjoyed hearing him narrate, but other than that, this title was not worth the time.
