Young, ambitious, and overwhelmed, Andrew O'Brien personifies a part of every leader as he wanders in search of the elusive silver bullet that will propel him to success. He happens upon an unlikely guide who distills the seemingly infinite list of leadership perils into the five temptations of a CEO. In an intense and often combative exchange, the two debate fundamental issues faced by all leaders, issues involving personal integrity and effectiveness in the ongoing struggle for success. While some of these topics have been bandied about in the leadership literature for years, here they actually begin to make sense.
Refreshingly original and utterly compelling, Andrew's story will serve as a timeless and potent reminder that success as a leader can come down to practicing a few simple behaviors, behaviors that are painfully difficult for each of us to master.

"Disappointing...story line is schmaltzy"
Yes, I would. Indeed, I consider Five Dysfunctions of a Team a "must read" and pull it of the shelf as a refresher often.

"Patrick Lencioni is one of my favorite authors"
I have read most of his books, and I appreciate the style of his teaching. He always weaves a great story and it sticks. If you are challenged by dry textbooks, I would recommend you give his books a try. You can learn a lot while enjoying a good read. The Five Temptations of a CEO is one of my favorites - probably right alongside "Death By Meeting" and "The Five Disfunctions of a Team".
"One of the lighter reads"
Most of this book is narrated in a form of a story and a dialog between two people making it more entertaining and lighter listen while delivering some really good point.
Definitely Recommend
"Invaluable insight!"
No more excuses! The author exposes the five temptations to which we may so easily unknowlingly succumb in his quaint fable. He provokes us to perform some soul-searching and then get our feet back on the ground and on track to success. It is not easy but "it is not complicated".
