Publisher's Summary

By the end of World War I, Britain had promised control of Palestine to both Arabs and Jews. Each of these peoples claimed a longstanding right to the same piece of land, and violence was inevitable. This presentation examines how and why this magical land has become a virtual war zone.

"outstanding slice of history and politics"

This is an absolute must read for anyone living in this time of international terrorism and war. It gives an outstanding history and insight of the politics underlying the Middle East, and the formation of the Israel and Palestinian states and conflict. I actually read (listened to) it several times, and I glean something new every time. I have come to develop a good understanding of why they (all sides in the Middle East conflict) are doing what they are doing (even if I don't agree with their "methods"). This also gives a good background of the personalities historically involved in the region, and of events that changed the shape of history.
