Publisher's summary

Kristin Burns is making her way in New York City. Her photos are being considered at a major Manhattan gallery, she works by day with two wonderful children, and the man of her dreams is almost hers for keeps. But just as everything she's ever wanted is finally within reach, her life changes forever with one murderous nightmare.

Kristin wakes up every morning from the same chilling, unforgettable dream. And suddenly, it's visiting her during the day too. As her life turns stranger by the minute, Kristin is haunted and terrified. Is it all in her head? Or is the nightmare becoming her life? Kristin searches desperately for what's real through the lens of her camera, only knowing two things for sure: that no place is safe and the fate of everyone she loves lies in her hands.

Not my favorite

I love everything Patterson, but I have to say this was my least favorite. I've never read a bad Patterson. I guess I'm just spoiled from his prior work....Looking forward to Double Cross.

Warned Indeed....

While I am an avid James Patterson fan, this book left me feeling like I was listening to a Dean Koontz book. Don't misunderstand me, I really like Koontz. If you listen and read to certain writers, you come to expect a certain style from each one. While it was a suspenseful listen, I have a hard time associating Patterson with the mystical relm. It's worth a listen, but I hope that Patterson goes back to his usually style of writing.

You've Been Warned Alright

As soon as Patterson's books are out I can't wait to dive in and relate to the characters and plot. This time by the third CD (I buy audio) I had determined this was as good as it was going to get. This is my own opinion but I was bored and disappointed in the story and the characters. It was depressing and not Patterson's best work.

Not His Best Work

I am a huge fan of James Patterson, I have read almost everything he has written but I must say I was quite disappointed in this one. Kristen Burns was the main character in this book and I found her to be a tad daft. All thru the book she is either talking to the reader (little to no interaction with others)or we are reading her thoughts. It held my interst for a while but then I just couldn't wait to finish........(I always finish a book once I start it) As for the ending, sorry to say, it was giant let down. Now give me another book like the Quickie; that one I couldn't put down........it was one of James' best!!!

Disappointed

Strange Story

This was a hard book for me to listen to and follow. I always felt like I was missing something. I still felt that way when I finished it. Would I recommend the book? No.

Who wrote this?

This would qualify as a BAD Dean Koontz book! This is not what I expected from James Patterson. I kept waiting for this book to get better and it didn't happen.
Stay away is a good warning!

Intriguing

Would you listen to You've Been Warned again? Why?

Maybe...after enough time has gone by that I don't remember all the details. The thrill of the first time would be missing as I know what happens. However, I realize during a second reading I would pick up things I missed the first time around.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Kristin, the lead character; however, there's this creepy guy that keeps popping up telling her "You've been warned" that adds the creepy, scary element to the book...he's a pretty good character, too, although not one you like but essential to the story line.

Have you listened to any of Ilyana Kadushin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not heard this narrator before.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I don't think it made me laugh or cry, but it did have me biting my nails...the chilling photos and twists kept me turning pages long past lights out.

Any additional comments?

While there's a supernatural element to the book, I really got into it. I tend to dislike books with supernatural elements as I like being grounded in reality...like vampires, witches, ghosts...I just can't get into those. But this one is subtle and, initially, you're not even aware of it. You get pulled into it naturally. I am a James Patterson fan and have read his book, "When the Wind Blows" about the bird/child, Max. Those were not believable but I was totally caught up in them and cried my eyes out over the poor kids.

Fun, intriguing book. I highly recommend.

Should have been warned

I've loved all of James Patterson's books, until now. Even the ones that have been co-authored with others were better than this one. I hope Patterson reconsiders if he plans another one with this author.

disappointed

Puhleese...........
One of the worse books I've managed to work my way to the end of, and then I wondered why I bothered. Patterson needs to slow down the express train or actually read what he's adding his name to. This book was a poor Stephen King wannabe- go back to actual writing.
