don't bother

would not finish. Rude. fatphobic. seems like a provider who rather look down on patients then help them. we all encounter high bmis and drug seeking and people of limited education in medicine. no need to make a book speaking rudely about them. not funny

Interesting retrospective on career in medicine

As a former medical practice manager I wish more potential doctors would listen to this book. He was an exceptional to the rule about doctors I worked with. Not as humorous as I had hoped, but insightful.

Very good

I enjoyed the book. Just an honest look into the life of a surgeon…. Told without vulgarity, which seems like today is what most people seem to think makes it a “good” book.

Thanks, Dr Chase for sharing your experiences in your life as a surgeon. Good job! God bless you, Sir.

The performance by Bronson Pinchot is fabulous!

This review is from John Chase-the author. I will let you all decide the merits of the book itself. After listening to an Audible book every month for 20 years, I identified Mr Pinchot as my favorite reader for his ability to portray the emotion of the situation and that is why I wanted him to narrate my book when I wrote it.
He nailed it! He made this book better than I had hoped for with his performance

Real Life

As a nurse of 50 years, I could relive many similar situations while listening to this book. Some funny. Some not. The book title captures so much of life in the medical field. A family friend suffered consequences of stress as a physician so I chose nursing and glad I did. I've had experience in many settings and many fields and benefited from them all. Kudos to Dr Chase for sharing his journey.

Great advice for those in the medical field

As a nurse I found the story funny and accurate. I will be passing this book on to my youngest son who is in medical school. For him this will be priceless.

Not Bad

The story was more informative than funny. I did like it, but not quite as much as I thought I would.

Been there!

Being an RN in a small KS town where you have to work in almost all departments, I feel like I have lived through much of this book, including being yelled at, syringes thrown at me, insulted, etc., mainly by surgeons. Now we have to take the abuse from patients! All med students should read this book, then when they are interns, then again when they are residents! There is much to learn when dealing with patients! It sounds like you would’ve been a joy to work with. I would’ve liked more humorous stories.
