Raven is determined to ski competitively once again, despite her doctor’s opinions on her abilities. When conventional medicine and therapies were exhausted, her coach brought her to Lost Arrow Ranch for a different approach. Despite a rather awkward interaction with the one-eyed cook in the mess hall, that moment may have changed Raven's perspective and motivations. Now Raven is feeling more alive, hopeful, and ready to take on the world again with the ministrations of the entire team. The loss of her legs might not actually be the end of everything she had long imagined for her life.
Sutton, the main chef at Lost Arrow Ranch, can be a bit temperamental, especially when he is cooking. He had lost his eye in an accident years before coming to the ranch and Brenda, the manager, is the only person he confides with. She is also the first to break the news that the volatile reaction he had toward Raven might just be something that he doesn’t want to hear.
