The power of faith intersects with the practicality of counseling in this unique partnership of a faith/worship leader and a therapist as they offer a pathway for listeners to find help, hope, healing, and freedom while navigating life’s struggles.

No one is immune from life’s difficulties, yet many people are reluctant to talk about mental health or seek professional help when they are struggling. People of faith who are battling issues such as anxiety, depression, life changes, stress, or relationship problems may suffer in silence, believing things will get better if only their faith was stronger, they prayed more, or they had more self-discipline. The stigma about needing to seek help is all too real.

But seeking professional help isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign that someone is serious about moving forward emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. Written by producer, artist, and author Anthony Evans, along with licensed psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser, When Faith Meets Therapy

  • dispels the cultural myths and stigmas that surround professional therapy;
  • shares stories from the authors’ personal experiences and from others who are facing life’s challenges; and
  • provides practical steps that listeners can take in the pursuit of emotional, relational, and spiritual progress.

Anthony and Stacy met five years ago when he was seeking emotional and relational healing of his own. Stacy led Anthony through a process of internal renovation and continues as his personal therapist.

When Faith Meets Therapy contains priceless, practical knowledge to break stereotypes that surround therapy while also offering immeasurable hope and encouragement.

Mental and spiritual health resources are included in the audiobook companion PDF download.

Clarity of concept to guide in this process.

It kept my interest from start to finish. Love the dialogue of exchange with Anthony and Stacy. Buying a copy for my friend who just lost her husband. I lost my husband 16 months ago and the book is helping me deal better with the emptiness I feel .

A huge thank you to Anthony and Stacy for writing this book. As I have been going through some tough times personally, it has inspired Hope and the courage to keep searching and praying to God for a therapist. I’m grateful! And will share with others who are searching for the same.

Deep Truth

This book was so relevant and useful. It takes away the taboo of therapy for the faith based person. We all need a safe space to share our deep Truth and so be encouraged to get yourself a therapist. I love the transparency of Anthony and Stacey.. people don't want to hear from super heroes but Humans with real experiences. Thanks.. To the reader remember wounds that are not healed or hidden you bleed out on those who didn't cut you....

Thankful

I’m so thankful for the insight regarding spiritual and mental health and how it all plays a part in the Christian life, especially in African American men. Thank you so much for saying it’s okay for a man to cry. Raising sons, I understand my role and the part I played in them “not crying” but I thank God they’re doing well despite the things I didn’t know as a mother. God bless you both!

It's about BALANCE

This was an easy and relatable listen. I appreciate Anthony's honesty about his anxiety. Any Christian listening to him can find comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their issues with mental health. Stacy's tips were also very helpful. I felt encouraged and reassured that seeking therapy as a Christian is OKAY! It was also a plus to hear the book narrated by the authors themselves.
