Publisher's summary

A personal story of holding on to faith in Christ in the face of loss.

Author Melissa Zaldivar talks honestly about losing everything that once defined her and how God used unexpected opportunities, like working at Orchard House, where Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women, to spark a journey of working through her grief and encountering the all-sufficient love of Christ.

Weaving inspiring passages of Scripture and insights from Little Women into her personal story, Melissa encourages listeners with her discovery that it’s when we have nothing left to offer that we can receive God’s love the most. And that’s something that can never be lost.

Listeners will be reassured that God will meet them in the midst of their mess and urged to look to him for help, comfort and strength.

A great gift for those whose faith is being tested in the face of a loss of any kind—a loved one, a job or a relationship.

Worth the listen!

My personal story involves loss after loss, wave after wave of grief. I’ve been looking for books to help ease the pain and suffering of grief as a Christian. I head about Melissa and her book on The Daily Grace Co. podcast, and instantly added to my wishlist. I finally got around to listening, and I’m so glad i did! I felt like I was on the phone worth a friend. Not a counselor or a pastor or another atheist friend/family member. I could relate to the words of this book, and felt more connected with each chapter.

Encouraging

Will be sharing this book with others in hope that it stirs in their heart more love for Jesus whether the day be a mountain high or a valley low.

Just listen to it!

This is such a great, transparent, Christian perspective on grief. It was refreshing to me that someone was open enough to talk about their grief journey-about the ugly parts and the need to be honest before the Lord and others about our grief.
I also appreciate the perspective of God being the One who doesn’t leave. The One who stays when all is lost and we are left feeling abandoned. The author creatively intertwines her story with that of the Gospel and that of Louisa May Alcott. Beautiful.

Loss, Love, and Louisa

I love how the book goes back-and-forth between the authors, life and current loss and Lewis says life and the loss she went through. At the end it is all wrapped up with the love of Jesus that gives up us the hope to get through the difficult times in our life.

It stirs up hope

I loved the honesty in sharing your journey with us Melissa, and for helping us find our way back to Jesus again after we have been through tough seasons which may have derailed us a bit.

A balm for an aching soul

The way Melissa weaves the life story of Louisa May Alcott in with her own experiences and the familiar characters of Little Women brought so much comfort to me after losing a dear friend five years ago… I always miss her at this time of year, and found Melissa’s story to be so close to my own experience wrestling with grief and loss. So grateful.

A Story I Could Relate To

Having gone through a hard season, I enjoyed the candidness and hope Melissa brings through her story, Louisa May Alcott’s story, and the Gospel of Jesus. I needed to hear that I wasn’t alone in the pain or even the reconstructing of hope and life now.

Excellent book!

Melissa Zaldivar allows her readers/listeners to sit with her as she gets to know Jesus through her highs and lows. Thank you! I hope and pray others are as encouraged and challenged as I was by “What cannot be lost”.
