Publisher's summary
She thought she could escape...
Katherine made it all the way to Maine before the bounty hunters caught her. Not even her magic was enough to keep them from taking her back to her mom.
The head of the most powerful coven in New Orleans is dead by the time they get there. But before Kat can even grieve, her aunt kicks her out of the ancestral home and puts another bounty on her head. This time, it's for keeps.
She would run away again, but they would never stop hunting her. Or, she could build a coven of her own, the group's magic a form of stronger protection while she searches for her mother's killer.
But first, she needs a familiar, and she can't go wrong with a classic cat, can she?

Short Set-Up for Book 2
Our reluctant Witch protagonist is forced to take on her evil Aunt Witch, and others. First task; create her own coven full of crazy one-off Witch characters AND unusual Familiars. Fun, lighthearted fair that's more prologue than Book 1, but it nicely sets up for the rest of the series.

Magic and intrigue make for an action-packed story
I received a review copy of Ware the Cats of War from the author and because I had listened to other books of his from other genres, I thought why not even though I normally would have probably passed over stories/books in this genre. This story grabbed my attention right off, it starts with action and ends with action, and while it is the first in a series it does conclude the first “chapter” in the overall story arc and sets the stage for what comes next. Interestingly enough, I have found myself very curious what happens next and what’s in store for Kat and the crew. I can now add another genre to my reading/listening pleasure – thanks for the introduction, Chris. Astrid Morgan’s narration was excellent, her voices for the characters and obvious enthusiasm for the story made this a great listening experience.

A Unique Mystery
In this story, the protagonist, Katherine, has been on the run when she is forced to return home only to find that her mother has been murdered. Before she can deal with that information, her aunt has kicked her out of the ancestral home and put a bounty on her head. Katherine needs to find a way to survive. The tale is interesting, has exciting moments, and is populated with many unusual characters. I recommend this tale to others who enjoy mysteries with unorthodox characters, not all who are human. Astrid Morgan's narration is fine and her voice is pleasant. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Short, but sweet
This was a fun listen for a Sunday morning. It ends right before it starts to get intense. I loved the people talking with the cats most.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author and left the review on my own.

Aunt and Niece pitted against one another
I’m waiting for the next book to see what happens next. Is the Aunt conning the niece or is there another party involved in the murder of the mother-grandmother.
