Publisher's summary

The supernaturals banished the gods from earth. They should have done a better job.

My life, as I know it, is over.

My beloved career, my purpose, my very identity has been ripped from me. Because I now possess the devil’s magic. And no one around me is safe.

Oh, and my dragon ex-partner-in-action wants my help saving the world. Again.

But this time the enemy is no mere magically gifted human. I’m facing a vampire who’s been around for a millennium–maybe two–and who has more money, experience, and influence than I can possibly imagine. A vampire who’s somehow murdering the last remaining immortals. And if that’s not enough, he’s backed by a goddess.

I thought my new devil’s magic was too much power for anyone to possess...but I’m terrified it won’t be enough to stop what’s coming.

Warning: This urban fantasy series contains danger, mayhem, humor, and heart, with characters you’ll fall for—including a vampire with an unbeating heart of gold, a book-hoarding dragon who eats criminals for breakfast, a mysterious fae who’s as hot as the desert he slunk out of, and a human heroine who’ll fight to save them all.

My favorite type Romance

The way this book ended may suggest that this is book 3 of a trilogy. That has not been indicated either way - trilogy or series. But this is the type of romance that I like where there’s a lot of action, adventure and caring. There’s no erotica which means some people may classify this as young adult. There’s a little bit of moral lesson in it that talks about honor, doing the right thing and the acceptance of differences in those around us but again that is the type of thing that appeals to me. I’ve like the series in the sense that there are strong family ties which suggest how Lira became the person she is. And, of course, her dragon friend gives it a little bit of a twist.

I want more!!!!

Seriously! There could have been more detailed romance. But that’s just my preference, it was really openeneded for a next series or round of books!

Book Three

Enjoyable fantasy listen with action, mystery and suspense. Love the inclusion of a magic for all world. Would continue to read a fourth (or more) storyline.

3.5 Stars 🌟

I've enjoyed this series and this was the third book in the series. I'm not sure if this is a trilogy and this is the final book, or if the series will be continuing. The ending left it in a way that its open, so we'll see.

This book has our female MC - Lyra - out of a job due to her actions in the last book. She now has a magic that no one feels is safe as she has the ability to compel any creature to do her will...scary, right? She is feeling out of place and in the midst of slight depression when her Dragon ex-partner Aurelis throws her on a plane and sends her on a strange journey. It isn't until she returns that she is finally given the information about what is going on with the Immortals and the Dragons of the world. Things are dire and Aurelis thinks Lyra has a chance of using this new magic to stop it.

Things start from there and we get to see more of Ronan, her Vampire father, her siblings and Strike - her new/old AI sidekick. I'm not sure what it was, but this book did not hold my attention as much as the first two books did. Yes, this is Urban Fantasy, but even in that genre, it was a bit out there. The plot involved Baba Yaga, a Kraken and a Yeti and had a "super villian" Vampire who wanted to destroy the world as we know it to get his mate back. Oh, I forgot, the Goddess of Last Chances was also involved. So yeah, lots of heavy hitters....

I listened to this on audio and the narrator was fine. Lyra is okay as a character, I didn't hate her but I didn't love her either. The relationship with Ronan seemed to have progressed off page since the last book and even that relationship felt a little superficial.

This was a fun and fairly easy read, but should probably not be read as a stand alone. Would I continue of there is more to the series? Hmmm.....yes I think so.

Probably.

Enjoyable

While the story has some pretty obvious plot holes and several times left we wondering “how is that the obvious action to take?” But I still really enjoyed the book. The snarky drone and dragon are hilarious! The narration was great!

Enjoyable entertaining romp

Clever, entertaining and entirely satisfying. HAE but not completely transparent. I enjoyed this writer for some light-hearted fun and the audio performance was solid

Great

I really enjoyed this series. It wrapped up nice, but it also left me hoping there is more to see in that world. I hope the author plans on writing more!

finished, but barely.

I'll start by saying that the narrator was great. The series though... was seriously lacking.
This is 100% a YA. I probably would have enjoyed it when I was 10-13, which is the only reason I have it 3 stars instead of 2.
