Publisher's summary

From world-renowned historian and philosopher Yuval Noah Harari, the New York Times bestselling author of Sapiens, comes an exciting, brand-new audiobook for middle-grade listeners that looks at the early history of humankind.

Even though we’ll never outrun a hungry lion or outswim an angry shark, humans are pretty impressive—and we’re the most dominant species on the planet. So how exactly did we become “unstoppable”?

The answer to that is one of the strangest tales you’ll ever hear. And it’s a true story.

From learning to make fire and using the stars as guides to cooking meals in microwaves and landing on the moon, prepare to uncover the secrets and superpowers of how we evolved from our first appearances millions of years ago.

Acclaimed author Yuval Noah Harari has expertly crafted an extraordinary story of how humans learned to not only survive but also thrive on Earth.

Sapiens for all ages

This is a simple and effective distillation of the author’s other works such as Sapiens and Homo Deus for kids. In my opinion, the vocabulary and imagery used to introduce many concepts is easier to parse than writing for television. I would read this to my children over and over.

Good read

Very interesting. Knew a lot of the information from reading Sapiens. So if you enjoyed Sapiens, definitely get this book . Will make you feel bad for being a human. We are terrible creatures.

Engaging and educational

I can’t wait to read the sequel. I particularly like how kids weren’t guilt tripped into the horrendous large animals extinction role played by sapiens to take action. I like the story of the little boy who recorded his agonizing death of the whales at the hands of hunters and shared it with the newspaper as a call to action.

A surprising superpower!

Most kids think of superpowers like shape shifting or flying. This story shows us how our superpower has affected the planet and powerful even you can be today!

Meh

Like a sapiens for kids… Much of the same information and analysis, just super watered down.
