Complex but I really liked it

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a very complex book. There were several seperate story lines that ultimately get tied together, which was a relief for me. I hate when books don't tie the seperate threads together and leave you hanging. Anyway, with that in mind, some of the transitions between threads were a bit abrupt. The narration was pretty good. The narrator's accent lends an interesting feel to the story that I found I enjoyed. All in all, a good book and one I'd recommend if you like complex stories like this.

Great listen!

This is a unique take on vampires. The story is new and original. The narrator does an incredible job of bringing this story and the characters to life. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

Unique and entertaining listen

This was a very entertaining listen. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and I couldn’t stop listening. It’s quite a different take on supernatural creatures and time portals. I really enjoyed it and will definitely pick up the next book. As always, Hannibal Hills’ narration is fantastic. Hills is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators, and, in fact, was the reason I chose to listen to this book. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Absolutely Fantastic!!!!

Unknown was one of the best books I've listened to this year! I am a vampire lover. However, I like the old school vampires who want to eat you instead of love you and this story did not disappoint. Not only were there vicious vampires but other creatures as well and I totally loved it.

The way Price intertwined the various centuries with one another and the characters was simply amazing. However, because this did bounce between worlds if I got distracted for even one minute or failed to give my full attention I wound up just a little lost. The pace was great and kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation but this WAS NOT scary in any way. Price also changed the vampire's rules a bit but it worked.

The narrator performed so well that I am going to look for his other projects. He made it very easy to know which characters were speaking and he just made it a fun experience.

I am definitely a Phil Price fan now and hope the next two books in this series will be on Audible sooner than later. I highly recommend this to anyone 16 and older.

Interesting but unnecessary sex & strong language

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

There was an epic battle between two vampiric kingdoms. King Korgan and King Reggan were left clinging to life after the war. For a great many years they lay unconscious, slowly healing from their battle wounds. Whoever awakens first would finish the war and control the gateways. The gateways are doors to other worlds where vampires can find outlanders with uncorrupt blood. A virus has corrupted the blood of most within their own land, forcing them to seek outlanders for blood that is pure. The servants of each opposing kingdom race to find pure blood for their king.

This book was entertaining in so many ways:

•Truly excellent narration
• The ongoing faithfulness of the vampires to help their king's recovery
•Vampire Edjuard foils the plans of his kind with complete selfishness
•Vampire William works against his kind with his uncontrollable appetite and selfishness
•The heartwarming mother/son type bond between the vampire Anya and William
•Those who fight back
•Some have very entertaining vampire-killing skills
•The back stories of many of the people who were turned into vampires
•Help from unexpected sources
•The healing that takes place in Jake's heart and life
•There are so many survivors
•Elias is scary
•King Korgan is frightening

I enjoyed the book very much, but I wish Phil Price didn't add strong language and sex. It wasn't needed to make this book interesting and believable.

Wow, Hannibal Hills gives an amazing performace

Unkown was full of twists and turns.. it was a bit of paranormal and horror mixed together.. it was superbly-written! Unknown kept me on my toes the entire time... wondering what was going to happen next. The writing really just created this world! It's quite a gift that Phil Price has.

Hannibal Hills is an amazing narrator. There's something about this voice that gives me the willies instantly! I don't know if it's all in my head or all in his voice but it's perfect for this horror/scary type of book! Great job Mr. Hills! Can't wait to hear more!

Monster vampires are back!

This book brings to mind the vampires I grew up reading about and watching in movies, but it adds a few modern twists that make it a fresh story. While the vampires aren't sexy, there's still a hot bit of romance!

The beginning was a little hard for me to keep up with, switching character scenes so often, and that is the reason I didn't give it five stars. It wasn't a problem, and I found that I didn't have any trouble remembering what had happened when those character scenes became relevant again.

The narration was excellent, clear and easy to understand at all times!

Confusing, but still good

The time lines and alternate places did create some confusion trying to follow the story. This was a different take on vampires, so that's good. Good listen, not great, but good.
