Publisher's summary

New York Times best seller

Continuing in a festive annual tradition, Debbie Macomber returns with a new original holiday novel full of romance and cheer - and the magical prospect of finding love in the most unexpected places.

Friendly and bubbly, Julia Padden likes nearly everyone, but her standoffish neighbor, Cain Maddox, presents a particular challenge. No matter how hard she's tried to be nice, Cain rudely rebuffs her at every turn, preferring to keep to himself. But when Julia catches Cain stealing her newspaper from the lobby of their apartment building, that's the last straw. She's going to break through Cain's Scrooge-like exterior the only way she knows how: by killing him with kindness.

To track her progress, Julia starts a blog called The Twelve Days of Christmas. Her first attempts to humanize Cain are far from successful. Julia brings him homemade Christmas treats, and the disagreeable Grinch won't even accept them. Meanwhile Julie's blog becomes an online sensation, as an astonishing number of people start following her adventures. Julia continues to find ways to express kindness and, little by little, chips away at Cain's gruff façade to reveal the caring man underneath.

Unbelievably, Julia feels herself falling for Cain - and she suspects that he may be falling for her as well. But as the popularity of her blog continues to grow, Julia must decide if telling Cain the truth about having chronicled their relationship to the rest of the world is worth risking their chance at love.

Wish Hallmark Made a Movie Out of It

Mrs. Maomber writes her novels like a movie script. Love the change in the characters. My only suggestion is that the performer not make the young character's voice sound like an old man.

The males voices

I really enjoy reading and now listening to Debbie Macomber books. The story was everything I wanted it to be.

The narrator was wonderful when it came to the female voices but the male voices were terrible. She made the male voices very drawn out and they all sounded alike. Men Do. Not. Talk. Like. This.

When I tried to imagine Cain, I found it difficult to think of him as a young 20 to 30 year old man. The male voice aged him almost to his grandfathers age.

Though I am new to audible and am getting use to the reader reading all the parts, I still feel the need to have a male read the male parts. I don’t get it. Why not? I’m not sure I’ll stick with audible if this is the case. The reader almost ruined the book for me. I will definitely think twice to buying another book from audible with her as the narrator.

Predictable, but enjoyable listen.

When I started this book, I knew exactly what was going to happen. But I kept listening. I found myself wanting to keep listening - it held my attention which I didn't really expect. It was a cute, holiday story. I loved the characters and the relationships. I enjoyed the book. Easy listen!
