Publisher's summary

Every crime is connected. But who is pulling the strings?

The chilling thriller from the mind of million-copy best-selling author M. J. Arlidge

A crimewave sweeps through the city and no one is safe. An arson at the docks. A carjacking gone wrong. A murder in a country park. What connects all these crimes without causes, which leave no clues?

Detective Inspector Helen Grace faces the rising tide of cases which threatens to drown the city. But each crime is just a piece of a puzzle which is falling into place.

And when it becomes clear just how twisted and ingenious this web of crime is, DI Grace will realise that it may be impossible to stop it....

A relentless, nail-biting mystery from the master of the killer thriller.

Not what I expected...

The Helen Grace series is my favorite, so I was highly anticipating this. My disappointment was the ending of the book, which dissimilar to the previous books. I was left with a sense of dissatisfaction, that I did not have with any of the previous books.

I was hoping for more…

The plot, though intriguing at times, was a bit far-fetched. Helen is her usual “bad to bone” copper,
BAHAHA, who thinks she doesn't have to answer to anyone.

It’s annoying how she’ll put her “team” and those she pledges to “serve and protect” in danger so she can be the star. For example, speeding around on her Kawasaki or not following protocols while pursuing a “suspect,” which endangers her but unfairly her team as they have to chase after her… She’s immature and selfish… For real, how old is Helen now? Grow up!

I feel embarrassed for Helen as she’s “whipping” around on her bike while rolling up to investigations and crimes scenes, acting like she is a badass in her leathers.

I guess after waiting this long for another book, I wanted more. I zoned out a lot found myself having to repeat chapters. I’m sick of Amelia and Hudson and ready for something new in the series.
