These four intimate walking tours can take as little as two hours or as long as a morning or afternoon, depending on whether you stop at shops, museums, or cafes which are pointed out along the way. You can also listen to the tapes before you leave to help you plan your day in Rome and they will be an enjoyable reminder for you when you return.

This book reveals the Rome that most of us are just not aware of as we rush trying to check off all the famous sights covered in most guidebooks. This is a more intimate look at the city. I found it very involving and charming. I have been to Rome twice and loved it but this book makes me want to epxerience it afresh and take my time doing it.
This non-classic approach to understanding rome was a fresh perspective. The author brings ancient buildings to life with insighttful anecdotes of history and civilizations. Having the accompanying maps would have been very helpful. I'm not sure how to obtain them.
"A really enjoyable two hours?."
We did two of the walks on two separate afternoons which centred on the Boca de Veritas and the Jewish Ghetto. Mam and Dad and the two boys all linked up to ipods out for an afternoon in the sunshine. Plenty to interest us and lots of fun. We got some great photographs ? particularly one next to Teatro di Marcello which we would have missed completely were it not for the commentary.
We took our own map by the way!
This guide would benefit from having a map to download. A list of the walks would also be helpful so you did not have to listen to the whole book to find the walks which interested you most.
