This city speaker audio guide is marred by horrid pronunciation of landmark names. The readers switch liberally between English and French names and pronunciations. The information gleaned from listening could be found in a condensed version of Fodor's. Moreover, the incessant sound effects "cityspeaker!cityspeake!r" and the shuffling footstep sounds fill audio space needlessly.
I am pretty tech savvy but this is really annoying. I am not able to see the different tracks in my iTunes. Only one main file. I am sure I will figure it out but it has never been so complicated. I changed the format and try to download again but still the same problem occurs.
Don't bother. The narrator makes this unbearable. Pronouncing 'Notre Dame' the same way the american college is pronounced instead of bothering to try a french pronounciation in the first few mins puts you on your guard. Soon the ditsy borderline giggly delivery along with the infuriating pronounciations ensure that this will be switched off long before the end. Avoid!!
