Nathaniel Greene--Logistical Genius
I really enjoyed how the author used historical accounts to flesh out the harrowing account of Cornwallis giving Chase to Greene and Morgan immediately following the defeat of Tarleton at the Cowpens, and how, through thorough and meticulous planning, Greene used the landscape and the locals to help him force Cornwallis to run out his supplies and manpower.
Though he never achieved a decisive victory in battle, Nathaniel Greene effectively forced the British to divide their troops and their leadership in the unforgiving South Carolina back county, contrary to contemporary military protocols; essentially burning the candle of the British army at both ends. Greene proved a the strategic victory is sometimes won by running out the clock on an opponent, and he used every means available to ensure Cornwallis was always running out of time.
