Audio sound has echos and is distorted

The audio sound has echos and is distorted. We wrote to Audible customer service but there suggestion to switch to a "high quality" download format did not resolve the poor sound quality issue. Apparently, instead of actually testing the audio file on their end they just assumed it was "operator error" even though we have been downloading several audio books from Audible for over a year without an issue until now.
