Critic reviews

"This book showcases Friedman's gift for lucid dissections of abstruse economic phenomena, his teacher's head, his preacher's heart, his genius for trend-spotting." ( The Washington Post)
"No one today chronicles global shifts in simple and practical terms quite like Friedman. He plucks insights from his travels and the published press that can leave you spinning like a top." ( The Christian Science Monitor)

Listen this book twice

What did you like best about The World Is Flat? What did you like least?

I like this concept and would like to explore understanding with this book. Well balanced contents. What I know so far is, after 1000 years economic recovery comes back to the same nation/region, of course with efforts. At the end of this book, author compared outsourcing with terrorism which I do not like. I understand that these two topics are very distinct problem for US. Unemployment and War on terror can not be related, similarly outsourcing and terrorism cannot be compared together.

Would you ever listen to anything by Thomas L. Friedman again?

I read and liked The World Is Flat, would love to listen from Thomas Friedman in future.

Not the entire book

Disappointed to see it’s just two chapters! I wish that it was stated so in the title. A bit misleading!

This is only an appendix (not whole book)

It was unclear from the title and photo in this listing that the recording here is just 2 additional chapters at the end rather than the original book

this is a book about living in today's electronic world written 20 years ago

The author makes it evident that he is having trouble living in a changing world. That is regrettable as the world is changing faster than it ever has and in 10 years, we will be changing faster than it is now. I got the book thinking maybe I would find out how flat earthers think. but lol, the joke's on me! I should read reviews closer! This author doesn't think the world is flat. He just thinks that the electronics in the world are creating a much closer space between us and everyone else in this world. He sees the privacy we are losing and is totally alarmed by it. That is of course correct, but his reaction appears extreme. I would suggest that humans have spent more millennia living in small groups where everybody in the group knew everything about everyone. We have spent fewer millennia living in isolation in cities. All I can tell him is hey dude, read some
anthropology and get a bigger worldview!

NOT THE FULL BOOK - DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What would have made The World Is Flat better?

This is only two chapters of the book. It is not the full book. Additionally, the narration is terrible - the narrator does insulting accents for the quotes attributed to women and people with accents.

I have been an audible listener for a long time and this is the WORST book I have ever bought!

Don't make my mistake - steer clear!

Would you ever listen to anything by Thomas L. Friedman again?

No.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Fake accents which are culturally insensitive

obvious points and a waste of money

everything you said was obvious and no information was put out. I feel like I wasted my money listening to it, plus it was extremely short!
