Publisher's summary

Nestled between Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island, Salix Pointe is not a place that many people know of. As a part of the Golden Isles of Georgia, it’s never mentioned because of all the weeping willows that grow there. The surrounding town’s folk call it the Island of Death.

Elisa Hunte never let the old suspicions bother her. Yeah, there had been some strange things that had happened in the town like floating objects and people disappearing in the night, but that happened everywhere, didn’t it? Even though every night, she dreamed of the same faceless man who did things to her body that were carnal sins, she knew most of the talk about Salix Pointe was just old folklore. Elisa also knew that she was different. She seemed to sense things before they happened. That was just good ole instinct, right?

Tasmin Pettiford was a city girl through and through. She hated the country, particularly Salix Pointe. If it wasn’t for the fact that her favorite aunt had recently passed away and willed her bookstore to her, Tasmin would have never returned to the island that disturbed her on so many levels. There were stories of townspeople practicing magic regularly, others seeming to vanish without a trace, and the bookstore seemed to be the epicenter of all things weird and unusual. Tasmin couldn’t offload the property fast enough. The sooner it was sold, the sooner she'd be back in New York, away from the mosquitoes, the bookstore, and the eeriness of a town that caused many a nightmare during her childhood. Or could it really be that simple?

Not to mention, Elisa couldn’t explain why her body reacted the way it did to the town’s brooding vet, Dafari Battle. And when his even sexier brother Octavian Jerrod stepped into town, dragging otherworldly trouble along, Salix Pointe would never be the same. Elisa and Tasmin may not want to put too much stock into the folklore of Salix Pointe, but there is a reason that the universe has brought the two women together.

Love this new series

I enjoyed the beginning of what seems an epic adventure. It is a great story with rich history and fun moments as well. The main characters are very different but more like sisters and the brothers that adore them make this book even more action packed. Looking forward to the next book.

The start of something great

I enjoyed the audiobook. Some parts could use some *ahem* adult experiences to flesh them out. The foundation is laid. I look forward to the next two books. There has to be a trilogy, right?

I wanted to like this more than I did.

The little spooky town was interesting and I liked Tamsin and Elisa. I was annoyed at Dafari creeping on Elisa and having a sexual relationship with her without her knowledge. Makes it even creepier that he wipes her mind every time. Like what? Dafari and his half brother Octavian try to protect the Tamsin and Elisa from their powerful and evil father. This one was just so, so for me.
The audiobook narrators, Hazel Addison and Hollace Williams were new to me. Not bad but at times felt like they were just reading the material rather than acting.

Amazing Book

As a Gullah Geechee woman, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's amazing to hear this in fiction and it reminded me to never forget who I am and my lineage. Thank you for this book.

OMG, is there a book 2??

Held my attention from the cover photo. Excellent book told by Octavian's the point of view. Loved reading it and had a hard time putting it down. If you want a good read, try this book!

Loved it

Loved the descriptive scenes and attention to detail. I'm interested in learning more about the town's other citizens and what they are.

The kind of books we need and want

We need more books that mirror our rich cultures and traditions. We need all our voices and stories, our visions and imaginings written down, shared. We deserve to be represented and celebrated. I’m very proud of these writers and wish them much more success - with this series in particular. A big thanks to the narrators too! Excellent work. Can’t wait for book 2 to become an audio book.

Pretty good

The storyline was different than other books I’m accustomed to in this genre, which is refreshing. The narrators did a great job developing characters. Will follow this series.
