Jack's Back

What can you say about an author like Matthew Reilly, a series like the Jack West Junior novels and the new world blending? Awesome doesn't really do it justice.

Every single book, without fail, has me cheering, laughing and using a couple of tissues. Every single book takes you to new heights and far greater lows (excluding Libby's death which still gets me more than anything).

Matthew's books are ones that I will reread for the rest of my life, I'll show them to my kids and I'll read them all over again. I'm counting the days till we get a Huntsman or Scarecrow TV show. If there is an author who will make sure their books are done properly it's MR. A movie wouldn't do them justice.

Back to this book, everything clicked for me and it was like a few weeks had passed since I put down its predecessor (4LK). I was pulled back in, the double prologues were perfect for this. The introduction of new characters, the communication with peripheral favourites. the emails. The blend of ancient knowledge with modern storytelling. If someone can produce a list of the top 5 "things" in this novel I'd like to see it. So many elements deserve to be mentioned.

I'd ay that this was your masterpiece but I'll be wrong when the next one comes out and that surpasses it. I only have one criticism, my heart strings can't handle many more tugs. Good lord man.

I was saving this for a Christmas read(/listen) so I could do it justice... it turned into a Christmas Day read because I couldn't stop.

PS: I love the interviews at the end, The new additions to the Huntsman ally's list need their own book. Plus one of them needs to meet Sky Monster and they need to talk planes. A quiet scene between two pilots would be gold.

PPS: What happened to the maroon and gold submarine?
