Resumen del Editor

What is it like to kill? What is it like to be under fire? How do you know what's right? What can you never forget?

In The Things They Cannot Say, award-winning journalist and author Kevin Sites asks these difficult questions of 11 soldiers and marines, who - by sharing the truth about their wars - display a rare courage that transcends battlefield heroics.

For each of these men, many of whom Sites first met while in Afghanistan and Iraq, the truth means something different. One struggles to recover from a head injury he believes has stolen his ability to love; another attempts to make amends for the killing of an innocent man; yet another finds respect for the enemy fighter who tried to kill him. Sites also shares the unsettling narrative of his own failures during war - including his complicity in a murder-and the redemptive powers of storytelling that saved him from a self-destructive downward spiral.

Glimpse into the effects of PTSD

Some very serious stories that gave me a greater understanding and appreciation for what our service men and women have encountered and how they have dealt with the hell that war is. Thank you to all who bravely shared and to Kevin Sites for bringing these stories to light.

self indulgent author with little to no skill

The Mr. Sites writes as if he is as honorable as the men who volunteered to stand on the line and follow the Commander and Chief orders.. He comes off as holier than thou. . Instead of standing up for his morals and values he decided to question the actions of these men. When he was placed in a position to stop the killing of a prisoner of war he just shrugs and walks away. Then attempts lays the blame on these young men we sent to fight. Mr. Sites you were given the great opportunity to embed with our troops. You take that gift and betray these men for your personal agenda and anti war beliefs.

Complete garbage

This author had no right to be imbedded with Marines and Soldiers during the toughest fighting prior to southern Afghan. This man has no historical knowledge of the wars fought before him. He focused on irrelevant facts, like a main stream media reporter. Couldn’t finish. If I needed a narcissistic view from a non combatant, I could have watched the news and other garbage out let’s. Complete garbage.
