Publisher's summary

A hopeless romantic and cynical news producer set out to find a “missed connection” from a NY subway. Will finding the Subway Girl lead to love?

Graphic designer and cinnamon roll Ryan Carlson is just a regular guy - a good guy - looking to meet the right woman. A transplant to New York from small town Iowa, he’s a strong believer in fate and hoping to recreate the magic his parents found. When he spies a stranger on the New York subway, he feels an instant connection. Before he can muster the courage to talk to her, the beautiful woman exits the train. Intent on finding her, he creates a website with all the details he can remember in the hopes someone will recognize her.

Angie Prince is a cynical news producer for the TMZ-style website Celebrity Monger. Between her nonexistent father figure, cheating boyfriend, and the celebrity infidelity she covers on her job, the native New Yorker believes love and goodness is for suckers. Desperate to help her unscrupulous boss take the site to network television, Angie needs a big story to boost ratings and page views.

As Ryan’s love quest causes a social media frenzy and collides with Angie’s search for headlines, he can’t help see the gorgeous woman behind the newswoman’s tough exterior. And though Angie happily pimps Ryan’s story for ratings, the biggest news might be the growing feelings in her own heart.

Is the mismatched couple’s focus for affections totally off track, or is fate about to arrive on platform passion?

The Subway Girl combines witty humor, sizzling chemistry, likeable characters, funny banter, and heart-swooning moments into a story of unexpected love and fate.

If you love opposites-attract romances, small-town heroes, sassy heroines, and great banter, scroll up now to buy.

I liked it!!!!

This was a fun, original romance. I enjoyed all the different interesting characters. The dialog was great. It felt more like a rom-com film than a rom-com book, which I liked. It's good to read something different every once in a while and this definitely was.

The performance was amazing. Erin Mallon is a narrator goddess and is never not spectacular.

The Subway Girl

Fate shows up in mysterious ways and this book shows a perfect example. I really like these characters and all the banter between them. There are parts that had me laughing and others that had me so annoyed I needed to shake someone. Narration is really good for this book too. A fun listen for sure.

Lisa Becker and Erin Mallon, yes more please!

I just finished my second time through this audiobook. I loved it. This book had it all for me; fun laugh out loud moments, snarky banter, quirky characters, excellent writing, great plot twist, steamy loving times, and with a very lite on the drama and angst! This is the kinda read that I live for! I loved the use of social media and the way it brought out not only the good aspects but a real look at the flip side.

If that wasn’t enough did I mention Erin Mallon! Holy moly this book was already at a high level but add Erin’s talent and it’s outta this world! As always Erin brings each character to life. Male or female it doesn’t matter she is that talented.

I can not wait for the next book! This is a must listen and I expect the same for the whole series!

Great Characters, fun banter.

Another fun listen by this Lisa Becker. Full of fun characters and witty banter. A very different feel to this one that didn't feel contrived despite the reality show vibe. The characters were interesting, as usual. Just an overall fun listen. And, Erin Mallon, of course, does her masterful thing in this one bringing the story and characters to life.

Lots of angst

The performance of the narrator was great. At no point was I lost on who was speaking.

The story is ok. There were parts that were interesting and kept me listening but at one stopping point it took me days to come back and finish the story. I’ve never liked characters that make things worse when ‘saving’ themselves. The female MC kicks the male out of her bed after the first night together and spends the next couple months lamenting on how he doesn’t like her. It does wrap up well and not rushed.

Another fun & sexy rom-com from Lisa Becker. This book is filled with so many lines that had me giggling throughout. This couple takes the hard way to get where they need to be but the ride was worth it. They had great chemistry and pretty steamy sex but they also had a great connection where they just got each other. I also really enjoyed the supporting characters, his friends were so funny and good, you just couldn't help but love them too. All that and a great happy ending too.

The narration was great, Erin Mallon is always perfect, especially narrating alone where we get a lot more of her male voice too, it's like a double win!

Entertaining Romance

Ryan sees a girl on the subway and immediately feels a connection with her. He decides he better make a move to talk to her, but before he gets his chance she's gone. All her remembers are little details - a pink beanie and an English accent.

Ryan is determined to find her and even creates a website to find this mysterious Subway Girl. That's how he ends up being contacted by a celebrity gossip website - to see if they can help Ryan find The Subway Girl.

I won't reveal too much more of the plot, because I don't want to spoil the book! But everyone in the story is vested in Ryan to find the Subway Girl. What we slowly come to understand are the motives why - and some of them definitely ended up surprising me.

I enjoyed the way Lisa was able to highlight both the wonderful aspects of social media/celebrity gossip as well as the pitfalls. Through Ryan's journey, we are able to see what motivates the different characters in The Subway Girl and if their motivation is out of the goodness of their heart or something more sinister.

While the sexy times in The Subway Girl were hot (so hot), I wasn't really invested in the main romance. I do feel like sometimes there were too many voices in the book and those took away from the romance for me.

I'm a big fan of Erin Mallon and I think she did a wonderful job narrating the various characters in The Subway Girl. I could always fell the different emotions that a character was going through.

I enjoyed the audiobook of The Subway Girl! Mystery, romance and a bit of reality TV all combined for an entertaining romance.

I received a complimentary audiobook copy of this book from the author.

Getting what you didn't ask for

This is such a fun and interesting book. We have Ryan who is not a native New Yorker but he is here and looking for the love of his life. His parents have that kind of relationships where it was written in the stars and Ryan wants that for himself. After some bad previous relationships he is still optimistic he can find his forever love. When he spots her on the Subway he is determined to find her. Along comes Angie, native New Yorker and cynical as they come. She doesn't believe in fated love but she does believe in ratings and when she thinks she can help Ryan find his girl and boost their shows ratings she is all in. Little does Angie know that fate is coming for her and she will have a change of heart in the long run.

Loved this unusual love story where they take the long way around finding each other but in the end Ryan gets his girl and Angie learns maybe there is such a thing as fate.

Erin Mallon was marvelous narrating this book. I loved listening to her narrate this story. Great!

I highly recommend this book. I loved it.
