Publisher's summary

An unexpected solar storm destroys the U.S. power grid and unravels civilization.

Natasha is a student from a nomadic Siberia tribe trying to adjust to her new life in New York and fit in. But when a cataclysmic solar storm slams into the planet, everything changes.

Lightning storms hammer the entire globe, burning and destroying everything they touch.

The electrical grid goes down. Fires rage out of control. Cars and electronics quit working.

Help isn’t coming.

Time is short to flee from a now-lawless city with millions of hungry people who are becoming increasingly desperate.

So, Natasha and some new friends hatch an audacious plan to use some of the University’s horses to reach her family in Northern Maine, where they will be welcomed and have plenty of food and water... if they can get there.

600 miles of the unknown lies between them and the safe haven. And before they can escape the violence of New York, Natasha must retrieve something that was stolen from her village.

It won't be easy, but this is her only shot.

Don't miss this thrilling new EMP/CME Post-Apocalyptic tale from best-selling author David A. Simpson. This disaster series is perfect for fans of Kyla Stone, A.G. Riddle, Bobby Akart, Jack Hunt, and Ryan Schow.

Solar Tsunami is fun! Oh and hey it has horses 🐎 ❤!

This isn't generally a genre that I enjoy listening to. But surprisingly the book was actually fun, Something I hadn't expected... and I liked it.
When Natasha and her group of university students hatch a bold plan to travel cross-country to Maine a horseback! Once you mix horses into the story, I'm hooked. It's love at first sight! The story isn't an easy one though. It's convoluted and there's lots of setbacks. So, yeah you'll want to find out what happens by picking up and listening to Solar Tsunami.
I hadn't ever listened to Eric A Shelman narration before and I discovered that he was quite good.

Realistic Mayhem and Destruction

Apocalyptic fiction isn't my thing, but I found myself rooting for Natasha and her pals, while wishing death and destruction on Halston, which means the author wrote these characters well!
the death and destruction were a little hard to take at times, but then again as I said this isn't my normal genre.
if it is yours, then this is right up your alley!

Great story about the end of things.

This book is off to a great start. The MC is enjoyable without having too much plot armor. The challenges they face are interesting and handled in compelling ways.

Simpson and Shelman do it again!

I'm already a big fan of David A Simpson and his Zombie Road series (hint, if you haven't read those yet you are in for a treat) and this new series didn't let me down. Explosions, horses, heroes, bad guys and everything in between. Simpson has done his homework and this possible end of the world scenario seems scarily plausible. Eric A. Shelman continues to give us an Oscar worthy performance with his narration and I can't wait to listen to book 2!

David A Simpson is a great original storyteller!!!!

This is a great start to a new series. I’m already drawn in by the characters, some of the early ones I thought would be a part of the story, but they were just to kill off quickly (shaking my fist) damn you Simpson! I generally don’t enjoy a lot of background and details, I’m more of a story girl. Just get on with it, you know. We get it, we get it. There’s lots of detailed scientific stuff, electronic stuff, magic stuff, alien stuff whatever. But this book isn’t so overwhelming detailed and stuffed with science that I have to skip 15 minutes. I didn’t have to skip anything. It was all understandable, palatable and enjoyable. The landscape building was great too. He didn’t waste too much time on what we already know. We got great descriptive information so we can see it in our minds eye without crossing our eyes in boredom.

I can’t wait for book 2 on Audible and as always Eric Shelman, You are the Man!!!!” Great job!!!

Narrator was great but not much else was

This book felt like a prequel more then the start of the story. It took half the book for the solar storm to arrive and not much happened during that time other than introduction of characters.
Once the solar storm arrived, progression of character happened rapidly for an important characters and minimally for main characters.
Narration was great though. There were distinct voices and accents for different people that made it easy to identify who was speaking.
