Publisher's summary

The Rosewater Redemption concludes the award-winning, cutting edge Wormwood trilogy, set in Nigeria, by one of science fiction's most engaging new voices.

Life in the newly independent city-state of Rosewater isn't everything its citizens were expecting. The Mayor finds that debts incurred during the insurrection are coming back to haunt him. Nigeria isn't willing to let Rosewater go without a fight. And the city's alien inhabitants are threatening mass murder for their own sinister ends....

Operating across spacetime, the xenosphere, and international borders, it is up to a small group of hackers and criminals to prevent the extra-terrestrial advance. The fugitive known as Bicycle Girl, Kaaro, and his former handler Femi may be humanity's last line of defense.

Tade Thompson's innovative, genre-bending, Afrofuturist series, the Wormwood Trilogy, is perfect for fans of Jeff Vandermeer, N. K. Jemisin, William Gibson, and Ann Leckie.

Nice ending

So my biggest gripe about the series is kinda silly, and that is how noticably better the writing gets as it progresses. I could barely follow the first book with it's disjointed attempt at telling a non-linear story. The second book corrected my issues with the first by approaching the subject in a more traditional format. This last entry to the series manages to in some ways make the first books' time skips much more acceptable in hindsight. The greater diversity of characters was also appreciated.
with how much of a good writer Thompson had become since the first book I regret the series being over.

Unique

A unique, whacky and chaotic take on an alien invasion. A truly African perspective. It can be difficult to follow at times but I found it engaging and thought provoking.

Satisfying conclusion

I really enjoyed this series, and there are so many likeable characters in it. There are some really interesting revelations that solidify the story rather than make it 'jump the shark' and get 'too out there' like some sci-fi stories can sometimes do. It feels a little more realistic than the 2nd book, interestingly enough, and that's not a slight against the 2nd novel, which I also liked. The narrator is still excellent and we get to hear even more accents, which is a fun surprise. I was very curious about where the story would go from where it left off, the author definitely made some good choices. I also love learning little insights into Yoruba culture peppered into the story, as it is new to me. I think this might be my favorite in the series.

Excellent reading of a well written work

This is more a review of the entire trilogy. It is tale rich in complexity and culture, with an ending that makes good on the listener’s time. The voicing of different characters added greatly to the whole experience.

Innovative and progressive SciFi

I really enjoyed this trilogy. The narration was beautiful and the metaphor of alien colonization was deep and interesting. Particularly liked the representation of characters other than western white men of sci-fi in preceding decades. I hope this is the future of the Hebrew.

just not as good as the first. overall disappoint

this book is like a movie sequel. usually the first one's good then it goes downhill for the same reasons. simply was trying too hard and the story really didn't make that much sense towards the end.

A lousy ending to the trilogy

The first Redemption book was great, the second was good, but this one is pretty bad. I'll admit to only reading about half of it, because life is too short to read (listen to) bad books. Disappointing.
