Publisher's summary
When Eiagan Allurigard sacrificed herself to save her people, the kingdom of Goranin was supposed to prosper, but now dark forces threaten to wipe the kingdom from the map permanently. New Queen Emora continued her sister’s fight for freedom, but at what cost? The once amiable princess has become a tyrant worse than Eiagan ever was, and the rebels are run out of The Banished Lands, forced to make a new life on the Rynkald Islands where they work to build a new army - one that can turn the tide against their once beloved rebel leader. However, things are not what they seem in the ravaged land of Goranin.
Immortals with dirty hands and hardened hearts and those who prey on the weak wait to strike, ready to take all the land for themselves. What was once a battle to save Goranin becomes a struggle to save every kingdom from the clutches of evil. Chaos abounds as our band of rebel fighters struggle to stay alive and reclaim their homeland.
The Revenant Queen is packed with adventure, unbelievable monsters, deep roots and layers of intrigue, and the strength of a family forged in pain and grief.

Fascinating Fantasy
I enjoyed book 2, "The Revenant Queen" even better than book 1. This story had fewer flashbacks. There was plenty of action. The characters continued to change and develop. There were unusual and fantastic creatures. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Emma Baumann's narration was fine and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

A great addition to the History of Goranin series!
M. J. Padgett writes another great book in the History of Goranin series. Book 2 is even better in my opinion as we see not only the main character develop more but also those around her. The overall world continues to develop and the pace stays great for this series. I look forward to book 3! Audio Version: The narration switched to Emma Baumann and it took a few chapters to get used to the new voices but she still does a good job with the narration and overall character voices.

Second Chances & Epic Battles Against Evil
Parents- PG13- I would place it as a high school and up read - fairly dark read and a trigger warning to abuse victims
Language- PG- no bad words that I remember
Violence- PG13-R- lots of pretty graphic beatings/abuse* (nearly beating to death), violent attacks, murders, beheadings, burnt people and villages
Sexual Content- PG- Nothing to warn of, some kissing and attraction but that's it.
Even though the first book was so dark I did really like it, but I found myself really enjoying book two more. It still has very dark elements to the story, but this one has more hope to it with second chances, repentance, personal change and strong family and friendship alliances. There aren't as many dark flash backs but still lots of intense action and puzzle/mystery to be solved. I can't wait to see where book three goes, it's a pretty epic series.
Narrator- (4 stars) does a good job with the different accents, her acting skills and differentiation between characters. I did feel she was a bit slow but normal speech was found at 1.25x speed, although I liked listening around 1.65x speed.

Fantastic
I really enjoyed book one, but book two might be better? There’s a lot of development that happens in this story, while still keeping the story flowing. I enjoyed having a fantasy without the graphic sex scenes like we see in so many stories.
