Publisher's summary

For over a century, the town of Gossamer Grove has thrived on its charm and midwestern values, but Annalise Forsythe knows painful secrets, including her own, hover just beneath the pleasant facade. When a man is found dead in his run-down trailer home, Annalise inherits the trailer, along with the pictures, vintage obituaries, and old revival posters covering its walls. As she sorts through the collection, she's wholly unprepared for the ramifications of the dark and deadly secrets she'll uncover.

A century earlier, Gossamer Grove has been stirred into chaos by the arrival of controversial and charismatic twin revivalists. The chaos takes a murderous turn when Libby Sheffield, working at her father's newspaper, receives an obituary for a reputable church deacon hours before his death. As she works with the deacon's son to unravel the mystery behind the crime, it becomes undeniably clear that a reckoning has come to town - but it isn't until another obituary arrives that they realize the true depths of the danger they've waded into.

Two women, separated by a hundred years, must uncover the secrets within the borders of their own town before it's too late and they lose their future - or their very souls.

Enjoyable

Thoroughly enjoyed this story and the narration! I like how the story unfolds piece by piece for the two different time periods and I was surprised by the ending.

A Look at Two Centuries

JWright
The action was a little confusing at first because of the two different ages with separate protagonists and an additional cast of characters. But the ending is so worth the read.

A must read!!!

This book grabbed me from page 1 and held me spellbound!! A novel not easily forgotten! A suspenseful tale of murder and a small town’s hidden secrets come to light within beautifully revealed themes of forgiveness and grace even for past sins that seem unforgivable.

Another wonderful book

This is a wonderful tale of mistakes, mercy and forgiveness. I'm moving right on to her next book and I can't wait to read them all! Can't say enough good things about this author.

Riveting split time romantic suspense!

This is the very first Jaime Jo Wright book I have had the pleasure of reading. It won't be my last! I loved the balance of the split time storylines. I was equally invested in both and curious as to how they would connect. The twists, surprises, and chilling secrets all weaved together is impressive and indicative of a skilled storyteller. The suspense and mystery are only heightened by the faith element as grace plays out in the lives of the characters, sometimes in an unexpected way. I was guessing about the villain(s) until the very last chapters! I love it when a plot can surprise me :)

I very much enjoyed the audiobook version of this book, too. I think suspense is my new fav genre to "listen" to!

Wow

This one kept me on my toes. Storyline was fantastic. Had a slight inkling, but was almost to the end before I figured out the killer. For Annalise, not so much.

Like listening to a 12 hour church sermon

I'm sure there are many that will like this book and honestly, if I had known Ms. Wright was a religious writer I would not have even started the book. At first there was nothing about religion but the more you got into the story the more the preaching grew until I really hated it. If you like your morality lecture disguised as fiction, this might be for you but if you have your own beliefs and just want an entertaining story you may want to rethink this book. It could have been a really good listen without all the proselytizing but as it stands, I will never read another one of her books.

Shallow

Overly simplistic two dimensional characters. No feel for reality. Very shallow plot and poorly written.
