Publisher's summary

Young Sarah is no ordinary girl. She's been diagnosed as schizophrenic and locked away in a children's psychiatric ward. But that's not what makes her special. She also has a very strange - and powerful - gift. Scientists have been studying Sarah's remarkable psychic power for years, enhancing it, manipulating it…twisting it into something evil. But their plans have gone horribly wrong. How much longer can they control Sarah? And what will happen if her powers are unleashed?

Different version of firestarter

I enjoyed the book. However, as it evolved I started thinking of the old Stephen King Firestarter. In my opinion, it took that book and twisted the story line to give it a new feel. If you have not read firestarter then this is an interesting tale.

The Birth of Carrie

I could not get into this. It starts with a prologue in which a doctor delivers a baby and she hears screaming. Than she realizes she is the one screaming The first time I heard that decades ago, I thought it was pretty cool. Now the thousandth time I have heard it, I hear myself screaming at the radio. Three hours in and I still don't know why she was screaming. The author plays at giving us that answer, but steers us in a different direction. Huge YA feeling to this book. Perhaps it leads to a great conclusion, but I have more interesting books in my library. I don't have six more hours to listen to a grad student whine and disobey more experienced doctors.

Did you like Firestarter?

Did you like Firestarter by Stephen King? That's what this book reminds me of . With a little bit of X-Men mutants, minus superhero part. I have always like stories of this nature. Can ever advance our evolution to the the capacity of using are human brains to its full potential.
I would like see a sequel to this book.
