Publisher's summary

The hunted now becomes the predator.

I bit a vampire. I sank my teeth right into his flesh and drew blood, and I liked it. Now, I’m craving blood as if I’m a creature of the night. I’m far from it. My family has been hunting and killing the bloodsuckers for centuries.

So it comes as a horrifying shock when my aunt catches me licking blood off a knife like it's cake batter. Panicking, she calls someone who she thinks can help me. Little does she know that dangling me like a carrot to Sam Mason has consequences no one is prepared for, especially me.

I’m not ready to deal with the cocky vampire navy SEAL who rocked my world so hard, my brain is still recovering, and my body is still tingling. But when I find the powerful Sam Mason and my aunt chatting like besties, my heart almost stops beating. If my uncle finds Sam on his property, he’ll burn him alive. Little do I know it’s not my uncle I have to worry about. One of my sisters decides that I’m better off not falling for a bloodsucker. I assure her I’m not. But she knows me better than I know myself.

Now instead of killing vampires, I’m rushing to save one. I pray I can get there in time. Otherwise, my family will suffer a fate worse than death.

The Predator is an enemies-to-lovers, paranormal, military romance, and the second book in the new Vampire Navy SEAL spin-off series. Layla and Sam’s story is a slow-burn romance with a feisty heroine, snarky banter, action, suspense, off-the-charts steamy times, and ends on a cliff-hanger.

The Predator

I’m not gonna lie. I struggled this one. Not for any reason other then I know S.B. Alexander plans for Sam and Layla to have four more books. I am super excited for all of them, however I am the type of reader that likes to have all the books before I start reading if they end on cliff hangers.

This is book two, and book one ended with a big question on if Layla and Sam would find their way back to each other, and what was making Layla sick. Those questions are answered in this one, but I was left with more questions.

Layla’s family is a whole deal. Not only her uncles, but by the end of this book we had to add her sisters and cousins to the list. I am still unsure of Jordyn. Shoot at this point I have no idea where most of her family stands.

I have so many questions. For the sake of spoilers I will not ask all of them, but I will ask…. What the hell was that ending? My heart was pounding and July can’t come soon enough! I have fallen in love with Sam and Layla and will be cheering them on.

Full of Shocking Twists and Turns!!

I flippin loved this!! This is book two of Sam and Layla’s story, in the Vampire Navy SEAL world!! Sam…oh my god, he is totally sex on a stick!! He is freaking HOT!! And he is crazy about Layla!!

This was full of shocking twists and turns, like the first book. There’s a MAJOR cliffhanger, but we won’t have long to wait for the third book, thankfully!! The over-all plot flowed from book one into book two…seamlessly. The characters (all of the major ones) have been so well-rounded, in Webb and Jo’s series and now continuing into Sam and Layla’s series.

The narrators are fantastic!!

It's okay.

So, I really enjoyed Book 1. I don't really like cliffhangers though. Well, long story short, I was disappointed with Book 2. Lol!

The first book was fine where it kept me interested and the action was great. This book is just so drawn out, not enough action, too much drama, it's just bland. And why oh why, do they have to involve kids? It's annoying. They had sex once. Lol. It's so cliche to bring an innocent child into a world of drama. It's so f***ed up too. Lol. Leave them out of it.

And then you're going to leave it on another cliffhanger? The story isn't well developed enough to keep going. I'm sorry, it's just not. It's so slow and dramatic at this point. Had this novel been straight action, less drama, it would be slightly better. But it's just not developed at all. It's like when they take one movie plot and put it into three or four movies. It should have had a happy ever at the end of book 1. Lol.

Spoiler alert

This is a cliffhanger series, the author gives you little bits at a time then the book basically ends abruptly and you have to continue the series. like I noted on my previous review, book 1, I detest cliffhangers, while I was pretty sure this one was going to end up in the same manner, I was hoping to get a bit more story, nope, just more embellishment, not enough story, I'm just not interested enough to go for the next book, credits are not cheap and this series is not engaging enough for me to use/ pay for it. The narration was okay, not impressed.
