Publisher's summary

The story revolves around a portrait of Dorian Gray by Basil Hallward, an artist impressed and infatuated by Dorian's beauty. Through Basil, Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, and he soon is enthralled by the aristocrat's hedonistic worldview: that beauty and sensual fulfillment are the only things worth pursuing in life. Newly understanding that his beauty will fade, Dorian expresses the desire to sell his soul, to ensure that the picture, rather than he, will age and fade. The wish is granted, and Dorian pursues a libertine life of varied amoral experiences while staying young and beautiful; all the while, his portrait ages and records every one of Dorian's sins.

One of the best books ever.

I absolutely loved this book. Themes of morality, lust, greed, depravity, gain the whole world, and losing one soul, passions, happiness, pleasure, habits. Murder! Such a dramatic presentation, and yet so many themes to explore or think about. I love Dostoyevsky as well, and this book reminds me of some of his best works, but easier to follow. The narrator was amazing and I highly recommend the audio.

Couldn't see the characters

I watched the show to get a glimpse of what the characters looked like and how they were as a person, good, bad, shy or mean, etc.
The movie and the book was very bazaar.
And in today's world, there are so many Dorian Grays
Thank you Audible

Story and narrator were captivating, however the download itself is faulty.

The story and narrative were good.
The download itself has issues.
I deleted the entire app and ensured I had the latest updates for the story and my phone. The issue was several glitches within the playback that caused chunks of the story to go missing and unable to hear.

The right voice

This is the voice that fully illuminates and pulls you back to a slower time before Starbucks and cellphones.

Things to like and dislike.

I enjoyed much of this while also hoping it would end. Good story, but should have been a much shorter Twilight Zone episode.

What a stupid book

Why would someone get so upset about a picture? Why hide it? The entire premise of this book makes no sense. It was boring and kept making me feel like a huge waste of time.

Shoddy sound

While I enjoyed the story, the sound would hiccup every thirty seconds or so. Just enough to break up the continuity. Couldn’t finish it became so annoying.
