Publisher's summary

Father Jonah Barlow is dead. The respected Jesuit scholar of apocalyptic studies might have died from a fall in his apartment...or was he pushed? All that is known for sure is that the provocative manuscript he was working on—a book that promised to reveal the upcoming fulfillment of ancient and recent prophecies, including the ghastly and shocking Third Secret of Fatima—is missing.

Two female detectives—one from Chicago, the other from Rome—take on the investigation as a possible homicide, turning to Vatican archivist Father Michael Dominic for his help, since Barlow sent the young priest the only other copy of the manuscript.

Newly elected Pope Ignatius, Enrico Petrini, intent on verifying the content of the manuscript against the original handwritten version of the Third Secret—which has been kept sequestered in the Pope’s personal vault for decades—discovers that the keys have been stolen. The search is on for the only other set, kept safely in the hands of a trusted monk in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, a sinister ancient order known as the Knights of the Apocalypse seem to be using the predictions of the manuscript to create fear and chaos as the prophecies appear to be coming fulfilled. Is the end of the world imminent?

From Chicago to Jerusalem to Scotland, from Rome to the ancient island nation of Malta, join Father Dominic, journalist Hana Sinclair, their trusted team of Swiss Guards, a French commando, and the two detectives as they solve the bewildering puzzles of the Petrus Prophecy.

excellent accents

while there are a few moments of slipping back into normal tomes, the various regional accents and lists are quite good and very entertaining. highly recommended

Outstanding !

This is another thoroughly enjoyable novel from Gary McAvoy and Ronald Moore. Here there is a perfect blend of excellent characterization and a fast moving plot that leaves you always wanting to listen longer. I'm a fan of both the written as well as the audiobook and Will Damron does an awesome job as the narrator. I would recommend these novels to anyone who is a fan of Dan Brown as they ar equally well written and riveting.

Fatima

Fatima. I’ve long been fascinated by the Fatima prophecies. The first 2 prophecies have been revealed. (The first said Catholics must renew their devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The second described hell.) But the third appeared to be so frightening that every Pope kept it hidden in the Sacred Archives. Pope John Paul II finally revealed it because so many fanatics assumed it described the end of the world.

It doesn’t. It predicts an attack on the Pope which actually happened in 1981 on the Feast Day of Fatima.

One of the best parts of this series is how the characters develop. This is #5 with Father Michael et al. Their friendship and devotion to one another and the truths they uncover make them so very likable. Those who love stories set in the Vatican (like me) will devour this series. I listened to all of them, right in a row. Barely stopped to sleep.

Continued excitement and intrigue!

Gary once again has created an, at times, edge of your seat thriller that won’t disappoint. His ability to describe locations allows one to feel as if they were actually there. The plot challenges the most most inquisitive of reader in all of us and his development of some characters makes the reader feel as if they were personal friends! I have listened to Gary’s books on Audible and have never been disappointed - his narrator is top notch! I recommend his books highly! Anxious for his next one.

Not believable

A thin premise wrapped in a trite story told with contrived and unrealistic dialogue and lack of suspense and concern for the protagonist.

Kinda cheesy

I’ve been a fan of this author and series up until this book. It was entertaining but there were soooo many cliches and corny comments. It was a little too over the top cheesy. I love the characters and want to continue the series to see what happens but hoping they aren’t all so cringy.
