Bianca Xing has spent a lifetime on a provincial planet, dreaming of travelling the stars. But the truth about Bianca is stranger. There are secrets hidden in her genetic code that could have galaxy altering consequences. Driven by an incredible yearning and assisted by the fearsome Letnev Captain, Dampierre, Bianca must follow her destiny to the end, even if it leads to places that are best left forgotten.

Good Sci-Fantasy, great for fans of the board game

Many of you reading this are here because you've played the board game, so I'm gonna write this based on that. This book is only loosely connected to the first, but it admirably serves its purpose in fleshing out the Twilight Imperium universe for what I must assume is the soon-to-be-released RPG system. For myself, this just improves the board game experience by giving me context in to how each faction's individual beliefs and behaviors apply to their interactions with other factions and makes the thematic aspect of TI much more exciting.

Started slow but heated up nicely!

After reading the first Pratt Twilight novel I thought the start of the book was odd, but I persevered. I am glad I did as a character came back from book 1 (which I hope more will in future novels) and the story got very good. So I am dinging it one star for the first 1/4 of the novel but stick with it! It is worth the payoff!
