Publisher's summary

Lisa Jackson’s New York Times bestselling series featuring New Orleans homicide detectives Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya began with a strangled prostitute in a seedy French Quarter hotel room and a demented killer disguised as a priest. Now evil comes full circle, as Father John returns to terrorize The Big Easy in this highly anticipated series finale!

There are killers so savage, so twisted, that they leave a mark not just on their victims, but on everyone who crosses their path. For Detectives Bentz and Montoya, Father John, a fake priest who used the sharpened beads of a rosary to strangle prostitutes, is one such monster.

Bentz thought he’d ended that horror years ago when he killed Father John deep in the swamp. But now there are chilling signs he may have been wrong. A new victim has surfaced, her ruined body staged in deliberate, unmistakable detail. Either it’s a terrifying copycat, or Father John, the detective’s own recurring nightmare, has come back to haunt New Orleans.

Another death, and another. Bentz is growing convinced that Father John isn’t just back. He’s circling closer, targeting those Bentz loves most.

And this time, he won’t be stopped until the last sinner has paid the ultimate price . . .

Closure

Lisa Jackson has written an excellent conclusion to her previous Father John story. Murder is personal this time. Along with another murder committed by Father Joh, or was it someone else? Tense and twisted. A thoroughly enjoyable book.

Good But...

Great book if you can forget a couple of books ago when father John killed the nun in prison then looked at the camera. Bentz couldn't stop watching it. We knew then he was alive and would be back.

Portrays female as lacking in intelligence

Author of many books on serial killers is attacked by masked man intent on killing her won’t give rest of details but after a number of moves no intelligent woman would do, I quit listening

Avoid

Bad dialogue: oral and internal. Poor character development and characters making poor decisions. No intelligent thought process in solving the crimes.

17 Hours 17 Minutes I Can't Get Back

Oh my god - this was such a painful listen. This book was way too long and the stupidity of the female characters was over the top. I’ve enjoyed the Bentz and Montoya books in the past but this one was truly ridiculous. Serial Killer on the loose and has threatened a woman but hey go out to dinner walk to your car alone in the dark. Oh you’re living alone the lights go out and it takes 10 plus minutes for the character to figure it out. Gee, nothing is running, lights off what could be wrong? I was so frustrated listening to this book and there were many scenes that just lacked common sense. Unfortunately I’m done with this author. This book could have been good but the lengthy, over described scenes were not necessary and I found myself yelling at the book. I’m sorry it was just over the top stupid. 😠

Hated this book.

I hated this book because I didn’t like the dark path that it took Kristie’s character down. She could have left Jay alive and still accomplished the goal of the book. Very disappointed in this book.
