Publisher's summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of The Last Continent is read by Colin Morgan (Merlin; Testament of Youth; Belfast). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'Anything you do in the past changes the future. The tiniest little actions have huge consequences. You might tread on an ant now and it might entirely prevent someone from being born in the future.'

Rincewind, inept wizard and reluctant hero, has found himself magically stranded on the Discworld's last continent.

It's hot. It's dry. There was this thing once called The Wet, which no one believes in any more. Practically everything that's not poisonous is venomous. But it's the best bloody place in the world, all right?

And in a few days, it will die. The only thing standing between the last continent and wind-blown doom is Rincewind, and he can't even spell wizard. Still...no worries, eh?

he Last Continent is the sixth book in the Wizards series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order. The first book in the Discworld series—The Colour of Magic—was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Very Fun!

Another entertaining read! Very worth the listen, as Colin Morgan really delivers on the aussie 'sound' of many characters. Excellent shenanigans throughout.

Love the story but could’ve done with less voices

I’m a huge fan of Terry and have listened to the older version of this audiobook several times. I appreciate the better recording quality but feel like the narrator got carried away with the weirdness of the voices. Still worth the listen, but I prefer the older one myself.

Love Pratchett

Sometimes it was difficult to understand. Accents and "old" intonation. But worth the effort.

So much fun

I've listened to the old audiobooks, and now I'm listening to these new ones. They are indeed different, but I have to say that I'm not in the least disappointed by the performance. Actually, I think it's quite brilliant. Just pointing this out because some reviews rate the performance badly because they are different from the old ones. As far as the story goes, one of the better Rincewind books. Rincewind's saga is not my favourite in the discworld, but the story was quite enjoyable and a lot of fun.

Loved it

One of my top 5 Discworld novels in a wonderful production! Enjoyed every second! So happy about these new recordings!

Excellent

I'm not the absolute biggest fan of the voices he uses for some of the wizards (like Ridcully), but to each their own. It was still an excellent performance. Will listen to it again.

Hated the narration

It's Terry Pratchett so the story is always amazing but I couldn't get past the first couple hours of the awful narration. It was just too much for me, thank goodness I found a copy of the original audiobook.

Narration is horrible

The narrator turned one of the best books in my list into something unlistenable. Audible pulled all of the Nigel Planer and Stephen Briggs versions of these amazing books off of the market, forcing people over to YouTube if they want to actually enjoy these books.

How do you ruin a Terry Pratchett novel?

You match the novel up with a truly awful performance.

He has a really pleasant voice and accent, right up until he starts doing character voices. Some of these are merely annoying, many of them are unpleasant, and a few of them — like the God of Evolution, who sounds like a squeaky, congested goat who’s stuck down a well — are so intolerable as to make me stop listening.

Don’t buy this.
