Beautifully Written and Narrated

These short stories are wonderful! Even my 8 year old was intrigued. We listened to them on his way to school this morning. As I dropped him off at school he said, “Mom don’t listen to the rest without me!” I highly recommend The Lakota Way.

Played in my head like a movie

A series of six short stories linking the Lakota people to the flora, fauna, earth, and each other. This was a peaceful listen. I originally searched for Diversity and Inclusion books and was so pleased to land on The Lakota Way.

Absolutely beautiful Lakota music and stories

A Lakota man tells life lesson stories with traditional Lakota music as a background. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed listening to this recording and think you will be also.

A way to see, & to take a moment to give thanks

This book was great. I wish it was longer, the stories are simple lessons that make one appreciate the gifts we are surrounded by. The connection to animals and the elements- I can't wait to share these stories with my kids and help them see the beauty in them that I do- each in their own way. Thank you for sharing.

Stirringly Beautiful Lakota Stories of Life & Love

The Lakota Way is deeply touching, both in the actual stories brought forth by Joseph Marshall and in the music and production of the tales. This is a book that you will want to listen to over and over again, for it brings a peace and awareness of all that we have been gifted with: the beauty of the created earth, the companionship of those we love, the sacrifice willingly given to rescue us when we are in danger, the risk we take in venturing out and allowing ourselves to put the welfare of another before our own. There is much wisdom in these stories. They are so much more than folklore, yet they are also that. Lovely stories of animals, nature and the earth that God has given us. The fact that the native people knew Him as the Great Spirit is of no consequence. They KNEW him . . . and knew him well. They respected all that he created. They were humble and kind. They were generous. Yet they could, when they needed to, find strength and go to battle. They respected their women, their wives. My favorite of all these stories, I believe is the wife who went after her captured husband . . . from no moccasins to many moccasins at the end of her life.
