This is nothing more or less than a short summary of actions in the Biblical books covering the period between the Late Bronze Age collapse and the Babylonian Exile. If you are already familiar with Biblical text, you will learn almost nothing. If not or you just want a short reminder of key actions, it is probably worth the book’s low price of about $5.00. However, be aware this is a summary of the Bible narrative only. The veracity of that narrative is neither supported nor denied. This book provides almost no insights into recent archeological and historical discoveries that have expanded understanding of the period, and when it attempts to do so the information is misleading . For instance, the book suggests Solomon’s declining power resulted from his weakening dedication to Jewish monotheism despite modern scholarship indicating Jewish ritual during this period was largely henotheistic and strong monotheism was only a subsequent development.

History Ruined by Text to Speech

This is pretty well written, though often sketchy on facts. It does offer brief, encapuslated snapshots that allow the listener to traverse the entire history of the Kings of Israel in just over an hour. Naturally, you're missing a lot of content & context, but if you recognize that going in, then there should be no problem. The real problem lies in the AI Text to Speech: it is nothing short of horrific. Awkward starts and stops with no pauses, just terrible overall rhythm, mispronounced words, all the things that serve as the hallmarks for poor Text to Speech. It really makes this decent book a really, really bad listen. Unfortunately.
