Publisher's summary

Penny is an enigmatic princess who is hidden in her castle's cellar because of her ugliness. Her unique gift enables her to unearth the deepest recesses of one's soul with a single touch.

In a distant realm, the land of dragons is besieged by a malevolent black mist, a sinister force that petrifies any dragon it touches. There is a prophecy that speaks of a princess destined to vanquish this ominous darkness, yet in the eyes of the world, Penny does not officially exist. The contenders for this fate are her cynical elder sister, Tatiana, and her compassionate sister, Sarah.

Guided by a mysterious fairy, Penny undergoes a mesmerizing transformation, becoming an enchanting maiden, embracing a clandestine identity to assist Everett, the dragon prince, in his perilous journey through a surreal realm that resides within the twisted minds of the wicked. This dark dimension is lorded over by malevolent demons, embodiments of humanity's most nightmarish inclinations.

The sands of time rapidly slip away as Penny and the prince embark on a quest to defeat the encroaching black mist, a race against the corrupting influence that threatens to consume humanity and imprison all fairy beings in stone. In the pursuit of salvation, Penny must grapple with the harrowing prospect of losing everything she holds dear, even her very sanity.

Each of the first five books features a different heroine who must unveil their hidden power to fight against the magical threats and save their kingdom and love. One hidden gift will change everything

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated beautifully by Ashton Haugen, whose passionate brings to life this gorgeous retelling of Cinderella. Penny may have been born a princess but because she is viewed as ugly compared to her sisters; she's kept hidden within books to feed her imagination. Blessed with a gift to see a dark entity when in contact with another person, Penny becomes a very important person when Prince Everett shows up with hope of finding a warrior to battle the darkness consuming his kingdom. Everything changes for Penny as she finally gets embrace the outside world like never before a she and those she counts as friends help Penny prove she deserves to no longer remain hidden. A fun story, highly recommended.
