Ireland in a flash!

This book is just fun. There are so many cool fun facts about Ireland here. Things from how it was nicknamed the emerald Isle/Island (due to the densely lush and green vegetation), to famous Irish people. It is also great for losing some of the Irish stereotypes about leprechauns and drinking (among many others). It is more interesting that the facts are just randomly sampled, and a quiz is provided after every section. More importantly, the narration was excellent.

A review copy of this book was given to me upon my own request, and I have written this unbiased review of my own accord.

Very cool

The stories in this book are quite good and they inform a lot about Ireland. The random nature of the facts is also quite exciting, it keeps the reader guessing on what is next. Overall, the style, narration and composition of the book is fun, entertaining and educative.

This book was given to me freely, and I have left this review in exchange. This review is in no way biased, and it only reflects my opinion.

When’s the next book?

This is the tenth book I’ve read/listened to by this author. I request every book of his that I see available for review. All of his books, including this one, have been full of interesting information and little known facts. I like his insight into all different aspects… history of an area, their famous people, things they are well known for, silly scary or unusual things that have happened. What a great breadth of information.

This is the third book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Scott Miller ) and I would listen to another. He presents the information in an entertaining, engaging way. His style is appropriate for this book.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

Interesting, but...

The narrator drove me NUTS. I'm not fluent, but I DO speak enough Irish to be annoyed by his handling of the Irish words that were in the text. They're not pronounced like they're spelled, and pronouncing "uachtaráin" "oo-ka-tron" was... I mean he tried, but he's not even close. It just made it hard to listen to, I'm sorry.

Fun book

This is a light-hearted book. My only annoyance is the overuse of the phrase "that being said". Still fun read.

Exactly as promised

This audiobook is a wonderful collection of facts and trivia about Ireland. It is well paced with enough information to feel knowledgeable of a subject without spending too much time on one topic. I liked how the book was broken up into categories and each section ended with a quiz. The narration was excellent. Scott Miller‘s reading bordered on “game show host” in a charming way and added to the trivia- vibe of the book.
I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys learning general facts and anyone interested in Ireland. It’s a fun book that is entertaining enough to be listened to in one go but easy enough to stop and come back to for small doses of “did you know...”

Another Great Trivia Book

Bill O'Neill comes through again with another trivia book. This one about Ireland. I love learning fun little facts and hearing the quick stories about people, places and events. Mr. O'Neill does all the research and information gathering so we can enjoy learning without getting bogged down in the hunt for the information ourselves. He presents this information in a fun way that's easy to follow and remember. The narration is well done. Scott Miller has a nice voice and reads at a good pace. I really enjoy Bill O'Neill's trivia books and think everyone should give them a listen/read.
