Publisher's summary

One of the residual spots of conflict in gay rights is the police force, and this audiobook confronts that conflict head-on with the murder of a gay policeman and the investigation by the inimitable Dick Hardesty. We meet many of the familiar characters and get to know Jonathan, a young hustler who becomes more than a casual acquaintance. The entire police force is suspect in this community mystery of intrigue and murder.

Best Dick Hardesty Mystery so Far

A good story with solid character development but a simplistic mystery. The main character is still slow on the uptake when it comes to looking at clues and discerning meaning.

💔 Oh Tom! 💔 1/23/2015

Any additional comments?

Wow! What an engaging and compelling story of hate, bullying, loss, corruption, and falling in love.

This story is so bittersweet for me because I was completely broken hearted for the misery Tom had to go through (I just wanted to protect him) and I was devastated over his death (I was able to picture it perfectly in my mind, just...). -sad sigh- You're given the opportunity to really get to know Tom and to see such a wonderful person go through so much torment was so sad. But I was overjoyed to finally meet John and see how he and Dick became the loving couple they are in The Serpent's Tongue.

A fabulous tale that will have you loving, hating, and at moment's, missing the 80s!

Amusingly named great series

Solid detective novels that happen to be gay. Not pseudo porn romance novel. Interesting relationships that seem real and evolve over the books. Love this series, can't wait for more!

The good cop - a worthy addition to my library

I love the writings of Dorien Grey and his Dick Hardesty series in particular. I have all the audio books which have been released up until now and I only finished listening to this story today.
I found this book particularly hard to listen to - not because it wasn't up to standard - but because I really get upset with Tom's fate. I felt this when I read the book and felt it today when listening to the story in my car. There is just so much injustice in the world and what happens to Tom isn't fair.
That being said, this is also the story where we meet Jonathan. He is a delightful character and he is well matched up with Dick.
I really recommend this whole series.
