The short stories in this collection give us a glimpse into New York society, filled with musicales and teas and ballgowns, but neither the tales nor Violet are light-hearted and fluffy. Happy endings aren’t guaranteed, and we’re often left with a sense of melancholy. Some of the stories are even a bit macabre. But over a century later, the well-plotted, legally-accurate yarns still satisfy one’s desire for solid resolutions to seemingly insoluble mysteries.

The first Caroline Keen
Anna Catherine green takes you always on a trip through a Time Machine to the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century in upper class and upper middle class New York, where she paints an accurate, sometimes haunting, once in a while, amusing picture of a time gone by. this first Nancy drew character is filled with quirky, Victorian ideals, and rules to live by. If you enjoy time, travel, without Science Fiction, I recommend it.
