Gena survived and went on to write a memoir and spent her life educating children about the Holocaust. Ida and Louise Cook were British sisters who repeatedly smuggled out jewelry and furs and served as sponsors for refugees, and they also established temporary housing for immigrant families in London.

Outstanding summary of outstanding women

Great narration as women contributing to WWII are highlighted. It’s so important that ALL those who contribute to the efforts of freedom are recognized - regardless of gender, color, creed, or identity. Service is service…and those who are who committed to protecting the voice of freedom deserve respect.

Should be taught to our kids

Fantastic history and lessons of why these men and women are called the ‘greatest generation’. With so much hate and disrespect for our history being taught today, Our children should learn what so many women sacrificed to ensure freedom for ALL. I am blessed I have the career and opportunities today and thank these women for stepping out of line!

Learning what true courage for women and World War II was.

It was a great story of what women have done. Except for the last chapter, I couldn’t disagree with many of the women they highlighted more. Stick to the women who have made significant changes in US history. Not just the controversial women.

I hate that they don’t teach this in school. This was absolutely amazing what these women did.

Who Knew!

Great read. The accomplishments of women have been downplayed and/or overlooked for way too long. Male predjudice about what women can and can't do...how they impeded all but the driven and determined women and what the women accomplished - it's all here.

interesting collection of stories

Nice collection of stories of bravery by women in so many different circumstances of the WWII. The author clearly did extensive research.

Some old, some new. All are remarkable.

It's about time we heard of these women. Now, research the women who led before. Good book. Well told.
