Publisher's summary

Award-winning storyteller Bill Gordh (Film Advisory Board Award of Excellence winner, National Association of Parenting Periodicals Gold Award winner) presents this folk tale live with no script, accompanied only by his own dynamic banjo playing.

A fox is walking down a path when it is pounced on by a hungry tiger. Fox has to do some quick thinking. It asks the tiger if it really means to eat the leader of the forest. Tiger says it would not eat the leader of the forest, but Fox is not the leader.

Fox offers to prove it to Tiger. Fox tells Tiger to follow it down the path and notice how all the animals respond to Fox. Tiger agrees. Tiger follows Fox. All the animals that see them run away as fast as they can. When they get to the end of the path, Tiger agrees that all the animals seem to be frightened of Fox, and he must be the leader he claims to be. Fox is free.

The Reason the Fox is Called Sly

This ingenious Chinese folktale is so much fun. Here the fox, who has been hijacked by the mighty tiger, wriggles his way out of his circumstances by claiming to be the leader in the forest. With the ferocious tiger pursuing him, the fox meets up with a myriad of forest animals, who each in turn flee in fear. At the end of path, the tiger is indeed impressed that every single animal has ran in fear from the fox, and agrees to never eat the fox. Now we can all see why the fox is known to be so sly. 😉
