Publisher's summary

From million-copy best seller Daniel Arenson comes The Earthling, a sweeping tale of courage, honor, and terror among the stars.

Jon Taylor is an Earthling. He doesn't care much about space. At least until his brother dies on Bahay, a war-torn planet many light-years away.

After the funeral, Jon joins the army. He learns to kill. And he flies to Bahay, sworn to avenge his brother.

Centuries ago, Filipino colonists arrived on Bahay to build a utopia. But this world has become a nightmare. Jon finds himself in a dizzying dreamscape, a world of dark jungles and neon slums, of ruthless guerrillas and intoxicating bargirls, of blood-soaked battlefields and glittering brothels. Here on Bahay, a man can lose his life in the jungle, lose his sanity in the gleaming drug dens, or lose his heart to a local girl with a sweet smile and knife behind her back.

On Bahay, nothing is as it seems. In this place of strange dreams and secrets, Jon hunts the man who killed his brother. But he learns that revenge always comes with a price....

If you loved Ender's Game, Starship Troopers, and Battlestar Galactica, you'll love The Earthling, a new tale in the best-selling Earthrise universe.

Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

This was a book I wasn’t sure I would like. It is more science fiction than I normally read. But this is one series I have to finish! There were characters that really made you cheer for them. There were also ones you hoped never make it to the end of the book. But they left it on a cliff hanger that really makes you have to get the next book. Great book, I highly recommend it, even if this isn’t a style you normally read! Kudos to the author.

The most insane war ever

This book takes you through so many levels. It has quite a few points of views. The end caught me off guard, but I loved the beginning of this new series. Now on to book 2

You better love a cliffhanger

While a good start to a storyline there was almost too much angst to swallow.
Im glad I stuck it out.
But that ending was truly bullshit.

It's hard to get through.

The story is poorly written there is no science in this story. The story kinda seems like an excuse for the author to just write racial slurs. The characters are difficult to like. The military decisions in this book are idiotic at best. I would save your time and money.

Vietnam war in space

The performance was good but the story was meh...
Nothing but reenactment of the Vietnam war on a different setting. Total waste of time and on top of that pausing the story in the middle so that we have to pick up the next one. I really hate when an author does that. I might pick up the next book to see what happened when the story stopped abruptly but really a very bad story.

Don’t Waste Your Time

This is like reading a Vietnam War Novel set on a different planet. Except this has emotionally unbalanced soldiers who seem to do more crying then fighting. A psychopath who would be weeded out of any professional army. They did go to the planet on a starship and went through a wormhole but that about covers the sci-fi. The most advanced weapon is a bull pup infantry rifle. I cant possibly give the story more than one star. The narrator does his best to make this work but I wonder how many times he rolled his eyes when the soldiers cried again. Garbage in and a little better garbage coming out, thanks to the narrator.
