Except, there’s a reason they haven’t been to Bethel before. Joseph’s father has his own secrets, a promise made to God before Joseph was even born, one that could cost far more than they’re willing to give.

But they may not have a choice because as the smoke from the ruins of Shechem drifts skyward, God himself is looking down on them.

Not the Joseph you’re expecting!

Yeah I was surprised by what DAYS these actually were- and it was awesome to have a new appreciation for a lesser known time of Joseph. I hope the author writes more!

WAY too short

Great storytelling, respectfully done, very entertaining. But I am a little confused. about an hour left of this VERY short book and while the title implies it is about Joseph, it is more about the family during the time of Shechem and just after. I expected it to be about Joseph's slavery into Egypt and the saving of his family during the famine...but clearly it isn't going there. I do wish it was even twice as long ( hours is still not a very long audiobook) and contained the whole story. Still John Noble is a good writer and I find his style very easy to listen to and enjoy, and I really like Jarrett as the narrator. He does a fabulous job and really brings the story to life.

love hearing the authors take on this and using the imagination that God gave him to bring Old Testament characters to life

Loved It!! Loved It!!

Jarrett LeMaster could read the alphabet for me now and I'd listen. Sometimes accents are hard to understand so the reading ends up being about how the narrator sounds more than about the plot. Not this time, or in the story about "The Days of Elijah". Instead the story is enhanced by the reading.

As for the story, I absolutely loved it!! Didn't want it to end. I kept trying to get out of doing other stuff so I could listen 😂 juxtaposing doing stuff because I didn't want it to end too quickly!! It's that good!!! Rachel's stealing her father Laban's gods and Jacob's gentle reaction...head shaking "she's a rascal" made me See the love between them. This story made me really think about Rachel as a shepherdess, thus further explaining Joseph's explanation to Pharaoh later in Scripture about the family profession in a way I'd never thought of. This week's Torah Portion (Vayishlach meaning "He Sent") encompassed this entire storyline, making it that much more precious to me personally. I think the best part though was how YHWH appeared to his father in the Storm and the telling about the Ladder at BethEl. Having these miraculous events in exactly the way Noble chose to reveal them was a perfect way to showcase the beginning of Joseph's relationship with a powerful, loving Elohym. I don't often reread or relisten to any book other than Scripture. I'm a stickler about sticking to details as given...but I will with both Noble's books. One complaint/suggestion...will you have "Joseph--Mahanaim" put on Audible soon please!?!🤗

Joseph comes to life

I can’t wait for the next one to come out. Love this author. He brings the Bible times to life. Highly recommend.

Anxiously awaiting the next book

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I’ve never contemplated what life was like for Joseph prior to his dreams.
I hope the next book comes out soon.

It brings it to life! For all who read it. No one thinks of the basics of josephs life before the coat.

I love everything about the story… Being reminded of Bible stories, that I learned as a child, the colorful details to make the story, life, and the narrator is just splendid!

Another Excellent Christian Book

I love Christian fiction so this was certainly an interest when I found it on Amazon. I’ve read Noble’s first book, Days of Elijah so I went into this pretty much expecting the same sort of set up.
In many ways, I was not disappointed! This was well written, intriguing, emotional, and entertaining! If you love the Bible then this is something you’ll greatly enjoy. There is simply nothing better than seeing one of your favorite Bible stories come to life—especially one of the more vaguely detailed stories.
We all know so much about Joseph’s story from the pit to the palace, but we know very little about his life before that. So I applaud Noble for taking on the challenge of telling this story. It was fictional, in the sense that we truly don’t know what Joseph actually did or went through outside of what is provided in the Word of God. But it is entertaining nonetheless and helps fill in the gaps of what could have been.

My only complaint is that there are times where the characters actually use curse words in their anger. I don’t *really* have a problem with it, but I was surprised. I come to Christian fiction to get away from vulgarity, so seeing it here too is a slight disappointment.

Overall, the story was good and Lemaster did an awesome job narrating yet again. Though I think his voice for the female characters was odd and funny.
