Touching!

This book is a part of the curriculum I'm teaching. It's the first time my scholars have requested reading homework! The story is touching and captivating.

All too sad, and all to familiar

Although Paulsen's books are directed at young boys, I do enjoy reading them on occasion. This particular story breaks my heart. I have long said that if Mexico could get some things together, they would be a great nation, but there are too many governmental problems holding them back. I hope someday the Mexican people will not feel like they have to risk everything to come to America to have a decent future because living conditions will have improved and opportunities will be plentiful right there in their own country. It could happen.

My thoughts on this good book.

It became very emotional, and I often was more interested in Rober's story than Manny's.
