Pretty good

The author gets a little too concerned with money, insisting that humanity can't exist without it, which was demonstrably false for 90+% of the species' existence. Because of this, he's also a bit of a gold bug. However, if you can excuse that, the rest of it is a pretty solid book. With mild reservations, I do recommend.

Some of the most important info

I really wish the author would have narrated this audiobook. All the same, it is very listenable. I believe that inside of this book is some of the best analysis of where we are in the human story that has ever been written. This is a gigantic look at the interplay between three enormous systems that are at the bottom of everything our social order depends on— the economy, ecosystem, and energy. If you like books that give you a sense of where we’ve been as a species, and where we are going at the widest scale possible, this book is for you. If aliens arrive and ask where we are in our story, the crash course is one of a few books I hand to them.

A fabulous book about mankind

This book provides a clear understanding of the world economy, a clear view of remaining global energy reserves and how the money system has propelled us in to abundance and wealth for the last 150 years. Planetary resources, however have been the victim of our growth by being harvested right up to being significantly depleted and difficult to harvest. The cost of our new future is at risk. This is a MUST READ book that will help you understand our options. Without abundant resources our future of seeing growth and prosperity are in peril. This book is not a cookbook or a guide. It is more about finding yourself and how your family can find prosperity, happiness and community in your own future

Outstanding and relevant material

This is a must-read for anyone who is concerned about the condition of our financial system, government over-reach, inflation, or the environment. I only wish that they’d had Dr. Martenson narrate his own work, as he’s a much more passionate and engaging speaker on the topic than the person they had do it.

Would love a deeper dive into solutions. But he explains the big picture well. Not for the naive or blame-passers. This is a leadership book through and through.

Time is the currency we hope to have more of

it was an elaborate piece of work, well constructed & negotiated. the chapters tugged and pulled you up & down, straight to the conclusion. It's never to late. today I finished the book, but 10 minutes before that I bought 22 chickens.
What I don't know now I will in 2 months, because resilience is the currency of men.

It's ok

Some good info here, thought provoking. My problem is that the author repeatedly spends a lot of time describing charts that we CAN'T SEE. It becomes maddening listening to him spend 20 describing the mountain climber figure that we cannot view. Hey dude, this is an AUDIO BOOK.
