Great guide for a fascinating text

This is a great listen for anyone interested in contemplation. A perfect companion to the Cloud itself, this guide helps interpret this mysterious mystical text while still allowing each reader to discover the text's meaning for him- or herself. Although a bit rambling at spots, the presenter is compelling and makes a strong case for why we should draw our attention to this recently rediscovered text.

Spiritually edifying

I found this both educational and personally enriching. Fr. Ciorra is clearly and expert on Christian spiritual traditions and is able to place The Cloud in context. You learn a great deal about this works background and impact. Additionally, Fr. Ciorra is able to make direct practical connections to prayer, the spiritual life, etc. The audio at times seems a bit off, but the content is excellent.

A very interesting exploration

Fr. Anthony Ciorra is a very down to earth speaker who is quite easy to listen to. This book is very conversational and pairs well with a nice cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. I highly recommend hearing his take on The Cloud of Unknowing and how it relates to the modern world.

A Beautiful Gem!

This is very heart warming and personal exploration if the Cloud of Unknowing and its mystical foundations and practices. The only thing that troubled me is the deep “presence” of the “Mother Church” and an anthropomorphized “God” construct on which we depend on for “grace.”

Modern Take on a Spiritual Classic

I know Fr. Ciorra as an award-winning professor of Christian spirituality. John Paul II actually awarded him the honor Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice back in the 90's. He doesn't disappoint in this series, which is a deeply moving exploration of the mystical text "The Cloud of Unknowing."

Excellent introduction into this amazing work

Anthony Ciorra has done it again, he explains a difficult work and sheds new light on it enabling the reader to better understand what is happening between the lines. He does not read it or even go through it in a linear fashion; rather he takes his time and draws out the important distinctions from the time period it was written and renews the language to better understand the work and see the depth of its spirituality. Excellent book, great primmer on this timeless work.
