A tender reminder of God's grace and our blessings

As I help my faith-filled, sweet 99 year old Daddy this book reminds me of the blessing and honor I have at this time in both of our lives. My Dad is amazing and until two months ago was living independently. Things are changing now and his needs are increasing. This time is precious and although challenging at times in respect to keeping all the balls in the air with an already busy schedule, this book serves as a keen reminder of where our strength comes and the endless provisions God graciously gives freely if we ask. This time is precious and this sweet book reminds us of the honor and privilege we are provided in caring for the parents who have cared for us throughout our lives...it is our season now to reverse the roles with the grace God provides for us all.

Tremendously helpful, wish I had read it 5 years ago

This book provided me with a sense of direction in caring for my parents and an understanding of what we are all experiencing as my parents age. I loved that the author shared her personal experience and the details of her struggles with her parents, her siblings and feelings of guilt and selfishness.
I am in my 30s and have parents who aged young due to a massive stroke for my dad and Parkinson’s with my mom. None of my friends are in this stage yet, so it has been so difficult to navigate. My sister and I have been so overwhelmed by countless emergencies and hospital stays. This book helped me see how we have denied the state of decline of our parents and also helped me understand why they are sometimes so grouchy and demanding. They were not like that before and it has been hard to have grace. My sister and I both have young kids at home still, so we are in a different stage than the author, but I still found her experience to be helpful. The resources mentioned by the author are what my sister and I need, so I ordered the paper copy of the book for reference and to be able to go back and complete the grace growers exercise. I recommend this book to anyone struggling with caring for their aging parents.

I found this book to be so comforting & realative.

I helped my dad, along with my sisters, care for my upper middle aged mom during her battle with cancer. I found the book to be so insightful & comforting when I needed the Godly support. I recommend this book.

What a Suprise

I ordered this book based on the title and description from my smart phone. My smartphone view doesn't show that this book is produced by Focus on the Family. I have serious political and theological differences with the organization. Had I known it was a FOF book, I absolutely would not have purchased it. I AM GLAD that I didn't know! This book is exactly what I needed. It so very accurately covers the feelings, experiences, trials and, tribulations of the Baby Boomer caregiver in a way that no other resource I have been exposed to has over the 5 years I have been responsible for my disabled 88 year old mother. And it provides support and answers for people of faith who are looking for an authentically Christian way to approach the problems, turmoil, guilt and opportunities that come with caring for an elderly parent. After listening to this book I no longer feel as if I am imagining what is happening, guilty, or unique in my feelings or experiences . In fact I feel quite relieved and able to access a gracefully Christian framework for dealing with the overload of caregiving.

Just what I needed

I highly recommend this book to any caregiver in any stage in the caregiving season. We are a unique group of individuals who only truly understand each other's sacrifices as we navigate through this season. The experiences expressed in this book provide a wonderful navigational map. I found myself laughing or crying at times which has helped me move through my sorrows and joys of the season. Most of all it helped me take my own inventory and bring a renewed perspective into my caregiving relationship with my mother. This book offers a wonderful renewal opportunity for anyone who feels trapped or burnt out from being a caregiver.
