Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Cathy Maxwell returns with a delicious new series, The Brides of Wishmore.

What happens when a bride says maybe?

She'd once been the toast of London, but now scandal has brought her down. Still, pretty, petted Lady Tara Davidson can't believe her new fate. She had wanted to marry for love…but her profligate father has promised her hand to none other than Breccan Campbell, the "Beast of Aberfeldy" and laird of the valley's most despised clan! Well, Tara may have to marry him, but Breccan can't make her love him…can he?

What happens when the groom insists?

Breccan Campbell is nobody's fool. He knows that Tara is trouble. Yet he's determined to reform the Campbell name even if it means forging an alliance with the arrogant beauty. There's no doubt that Tara is a challenge, and Breccan loves nothing more. For he's vowed to thoroughly seduce Tara...and make her his in more than name alone.

Fantastic narrator!

Love listening to Mary Jane Wells. She was especially exceptional in narrating this story. Her Scottish accent was great. She does female and male parts excellently. She really makes the stories that she narrates come alive. I love historical romances and she makes them great.

Sweet romance

I loved this sweet fun romance. Not too much strife or misunderstandings to keep the main characters apart. just an easy enjoyable listen.

Maxwell & Wells team better in other books

Self-absorbed Tara was annoyingly egotistical in earlier books but she's the star here. We obtain a more sympathetic view of her as she matures and marries. But the annoying voice she was given in earlier tomes is a bit much here. Mary Jane Wells is normally my favorite narrator in period stories, but here Tara brings down the overall enjoyment of the book. Is it possible to have an annoying character, whose voice is originally reflective of her deeper problematic character, mature in her voice as well, to reflect her inner growth? That might help!

I find that Cathy Maxwell is a hit or miss we me. Though she is one of my favorite author's, I loved this book. I have listened to Mary Jane Wells before and enjoy her voice bringing the book to life.

Much better than the first book in this series!

I’m glad this book was better than the first book in the series. I bought all three on sale and wasn’t thrilled with the first. The narrator is one of my favorites!

Very enjoyable cut too short

There were so many plot twists and there was so much room for another 3 hours. Seems like an opportunity lost.
Good follow-up to the previous book. Great narration as a Waze by Marie Jean Wells

Didn't care for the narrator

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Narrator

Would you be willing to try another book from Cathy Maxwell? Why or why not?

I like all Cathy maxwell books

Would you be willing to try another one of Mary Jane Wells’s performances?

I don't know she made the main character sound like a 10 year old even though she has a nice voice
